No I dont escrow anymore.
I am not using tha HD version , the normal one 0.5.19 in Linux. I guess and I have seen reviews of it you can just import the private key from the MENU there and when you reinstall it in a new PC you can export it to get your wallet back. I am really confused right now.

EDIT: No problem, I can see I can still download earlier version of 0.5.19 in the Multibit website and security is great in Linux already, not such an urgent need to upgrade to HD.

You can import keys into multibit classic, yes. Sorry, but when you wrote "latest" I assumed MBHD.

You need to put them into a text file and open that file with multibit. Its under Tools -> Import private keys.

If you just want to use an old multibit wallet you can just open the .wallet file with File -> Open Wallet.

Which version are you using exactly?

The website suggests you send yourself your coins to the new address if you can. Just in case

Im confused. How would that help import a private key into the wallet?

Is that just as simple as clicking Import Private keys from the MENU of MULTIBIT? Using latest version on Linux Ubuntu 12.10.

You can not import private keys into multibit HD.
