Get the community involved in the development of the community itself.

Nothing fosters loyalty and interaction quick like the prospect of having you voice heard and having an active role in how the community deveops into the future.
Give early users a special rank/role to honor their original commitment and never lose site of them.
An online community ins only as strong as its devoted core, others will come and go but ass long as the core users remain there will always be a reason for others to visit and interact.

Agree. Devoted core and loyal customers are very important for the community

Great post!

Thank you very much for sharing very valuable and interesting content!

I think you should give your community more and more information, so they could discuss it.

It should be not only about your project but also intersting articles and hot news about industry in which your company works.

Moreover, as a good CM you should always give quick and informative feedback. But i think, you know it  Wink Wink Wink

Thank you for this piece of advice. Actually, I'm trying and everything is going to be swell  Smiley

It is pretty difficult to make first steps for the activity. But it works sometimes. People just dont want to communicate in an empty chat

Hello everyone! Smiley

Working as a community manager in the KickCity company I faced a problem how to increase chat/forum/blog activity. The life of CM is not that easy when there are a lot of people in your community. But it's getting even worse when there are no people at all. So I decided to try to involve more people in my community (https://telegram.me/kickcity_chat) and it was not that bad. Now I have live community and I hope it will be even better. So, what I actually did?

There are tips how to increase chat/forum/blog activity:

 - If there is no activity create the activity.

This works like that: you create a couple of different characters and start talking to yourself. It sounds crazy, but it actually works. Also, you can ask your friend to help you and talk to your characters if you don't like your own company. People don't like to write the first comment (the first one who comment this post - you are the hero, my friend  Cheesy ). Thus people will see activity and start writing more posts.

 - Cross-marketing.

You could find the other forum or blog at the same stage as yours and ask the moderator to write something about your chat/forum/blog. And do the same. Don't use cross-marketing too often not to spam too much.

 - Advertise, advertise and advertise some more.

You can choose one big blogger and find some smaller channels he made add campaign before. Pick 4-5 of them with higher traffic and do the add with them. It is better working with a couple of small bloggers than with one big because the coverage of potential users is higher. Note that the subject of their blogs should correspond your theme.

 - Create quality content

Provide your users with interesting and informative content. This is simple as ABC. I mean understanding that you need a good content. Creating one is not that easy. However, you could go to the other chat/forum/blog corresponding your subject and find out the most the most discussed treads. So this is going to be your start point.

Do you have any ideas or experience how you are increasing activity in your chat/forum/blog?

Lol, this is quite funny especially the number one point. I know so many people that did that– creating their characters themselves and just writing, commenting and also replying to themselves, it was really funny as one of my friends had to do that when he created a new site.

He was commenting on the site as first person and will also pay some people to comment on his site, really funny, but now, he’s gone far. He doesn’t have to comment by himself, but has lots of visitors who comments all the time on his posts.
