Even if ETH really stop using PoW, there is a chance that other network will get stronger instead. That would increase their resistance to 51% attack and stop disastrous event from happening over and over again. So, there's no need to be overly pessimistic. Just don't take too much risk.

If im not wrong any cpu will mine monero using randomx algorithm but profit is very low. i used to mine with my i7 3930k long time ago now it was paying good. maybe again there is alot asics on network that makes profit so low.
randomx algorithm is an asic-resistant algorithm, and it is not profitable to produce ASICs for it, because the developers will change the algorithm in a month. Developers are trying to make sure that their washes are cleaned only on processors and video cards.
FPGA also poorly mine this coin.
I want to believe that but when profit shows for 2.5khs=20cents per day it makes me thing it is not profitable ecpesially when monero prices are high. So who is mining this coin with so big hashrates?

This article is at least 2 years outdated. First, Monero is not mined with GPUs and quotes like "Consider acquiring an AMD R9 280x or buy the more recent one." are just hilarious.  Second, xmr-stak is outdated and hasn't been updated for more than a year. Use XMRig. For the actual information about Monero mining, visit https://www.reddit.com/r/MoneroMining/

All Monero pools can be found on this site, as well as see the statistics of each pool

Now for video cards, you can find more tailored algorithms for mining, and it is better to mine Monero on processors.

You may have heard the term mining cryptocurrency in general. But it isn’t entirely obvious what it means in that context. Mining in the crypto world is the method of holding blockchain data in check. It includes hard work performed by computers and results in slow growth of resources – just like mining for minerals.  Let’s take a look at the Monero coin and Monero mining pools.

Although mining is not for everyone, anyone can become a miner. Over 70% of crypto mining happens in China, where dirt-cheap electricity makes running mining computers extremely profitable.

this is the wrong section it belongs in alt coins
