Thank you!! Yes, I installed the 'Standalone Executable'. So this was the reason that I did not see an icon, and not an entry in the Start menu of Windows 7.

And indeed I can start Electrum again when I go to the download-file. I did not try this at first, because I was afraid that Electrum would be installed for the second time. But when I do this, I only have to give my password, and Electrum is again there!

I have the new version 2.9.3. Since I know that I must use the download-file to open Electrum again my problem is solved! Thank you again!!

Which version of Electrum did you download and run?

It sounds like you downloaded either the "Standalone Executable" or the "Portable version"... neither of these will create entries in the start menu or icons on your desktop etc. You'll need to find where you downloaded the .exe to and run it from there to re-open Electrum.

If you want Electrum to be "installed" you need to ensure you get the "Windows Installer" version from here: https://electrum.org/#download (The 2nd option in the windows download section):

Yes, I know the location where the wallet is installed. But what file must I use to open the wallet again? There I find amongst other files the file default_wallet. But this file has no extension and Windows 7 does not know how to open it. Moreover also in the control panel I don't see the program.
Maybe the installation was corrupt?

The directory for all wallets is typically C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\Electrum\wallets.
You can open the wallets only using Electrum. Therefore, please open Electrum and it asks standardly which wallet you want to use, then click on 'Choose' and select the wallet. After that, click on next.
If it opens directly to your wallet, please click on 'File' and click on 'Open' in the menu, it asks what I wrote on the above.

Opening Electrum should bring up your wallet automatically. If not, locate your wallet file where ever you told Electrum to download. This could be stored anywhere you pointed it too, common places are %appdata% and documents.

Hello,

I never worked before in my life with bitcoins. But this day I installed the Electrum wallet on my computer with Windows. But how can I open the wallet again when I have closed it? Nowhere I see an entry on my computer like with other computer programs.
