If Im not in a hurry to spend any I can just wait untill this all gets fixed.
And if it takes a long time I could allways just import seed to some other HD wallet if I really needed.
I do hope that it will be back to normal soon tho Smiley

You may be waiting for years. Just switch servers.

the correct course of action is to first understand what is going on. and it is not just about this incident but generally about anything similar with any other application that you are using. you first figure out what the problem is and how it is affecting you then decide what to do about it.
if you stop using the applications just because some bug was found or some weakness was exploited then you should not use anything at all!

Like tryninja said, downgrading isn't going to do anything useful in this particular case because the same message gets sent.

I wonder how long the fix will take. I know it's a lot of code to edit and cross reference because it's the server code and the client code that will need to be changed imo.

This is an only a good alternative if you don't want to see the phishing site that always pops up on the latest version.
That's actually a pretty bad suggestion. The new versions actually make the message look bad and not official (it doesn't render all the styling and clickable-links anymore).

The phishing messages also show up in older versions, but the message looks even more real (with all the styling that made people fall for it). So, if you want someone to fall for it, tell them to downgrade their Electrum version.

OP: DON'T DOWNGRADE. Just change servers until the transaction goes through without the malicious message. All the hacker can do is show that message. So, if you don't download anything from the fake link, nothing bad will happen.

If Im not in a hurry to spend any I can just wait untill this all gets fixed.
And if it takes a long time I could allways just import seed to some other HD wallet if I really needed.

Have you tried to downgrade or use the older version of electrum?
I'm using a portable version of electrum 3.0.6 in my USB stick and until now I haven't experienced any issue yet.
This is an only a good alternative if you don't want to see the phishing site that always pops up on the latest version.

You have to switch to another server and do the transaction again.

Make a note of the server that works and just autoconnect to that one also. If you can't fine one, there's one run by anduck and one run on a hsmiths domain that have been there a while...

So what would be the wisest course of action?
Just wait untill the issue gets fixed and not use the wallet in the meantime?

One important question. Does the transaction go trough despite the error msg?
Like is the functionality unaffected?
