It can happen to anyone that any online account is hacked, even if they take all possible security measures - let's say someone hacks a database and the data is not encrypted. But if in the case of a specific BTT account, if we use a unique password and an email address with a unique password in a way that we store that information securely, then no hacker will succeed no matter how hard he tries.

Some people are, so to speak, really clumsy, because they don't understand any basics, so they wonder how their account has been hacked, but they share a computer with a few other people, or use computers in public places or free wi-fi.

I don't know what to say about cases like this, but I don't know that anyone had a hacked account 3 or more times.

One should also stake their BTC address so if something bad happens it can be tad bit easy to recover it.

p.s. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/stake-your-bitcoin-address-here-996318

It's already mentioned by OP actually.
Staking your bitcoin address

That's the only security I see, I mean the best security as sometimes we make mistakes like we use other computers and our information is recorded on that computer, and sometimes we fall to a phishing site. I remember before the phishing site like bitcointalk.to and I almost visited that site.

At least if we make mistakes and our accounts get hacked, we can always proved ownership with our stake address.

Oh right, I vaguely read the main bold points, apologies lol

If I may, I want to add another way to protect your account, it can be applicable to your other accounts too. And that is shutting up about it, most hacks that are individually targeted sometimes has some affiliation towards you. If those people did not know about your important accounts then they will not have any motive to attack your security. Appear as if you do not care about anything outside so they wouldn't suspect anything about you. Remember to work in silence and let the success make the noise as the saying goes right?

Far too impossible to happen. They cannot simply hack your account just by only having your bitcointalk profile name, unless you let them know your password and any important information at the same time which is stupidity. Hackers attacks through malware, phising and etc. And the most effective way to not be attack by them is to make all your devices secured by security apps and softwares and by avoiding any sites that include such. Just think before you click! Simple but effective.  Wink

Everyone is entitled to securing his/her account, the reason why most persons account got hacked easily is either because they used same password as there username, or email id as they password and not hiding the email from the public

I Think the rate at which account where been hacked has drastically reduced compared to what we experience in previous years.
When you're not informed you either deformed.

Checking IP logs
It is good to always check your ip logs, there is already a link provided by theymos to check the IP logs for over a period of time, this can help if you notice any ip different from the one you are using, immediately this is noticed, you will have to report this immediately on this forum for help. To check you ip log:
https://bitcointalk.org/myips.php
In the event that your account gets hacked, one of the first things the hacker would do is to change the password. Unless he is looking for something in your PMs, I don't see why he would not attempt to change the password and lock you out of the account. Trying to scam someone without you noticing is one of the things I can think of. Changing the address for a trade/deal that is about to be completed could be another reason. But most of the accounts get hacked either to be sold or be used by the hackers themselves.

It's possible for you as an entrepreneur, I know very well that everyone taught I'm looking up to government work to be earn $500 within six hours, no, it's obvious that money comes due to the way we strategies our business, and the money is too small compare to money some entrepreneur's generate before six hours but we are seeing it in another perspective, looking as eve is difficult to generate it, the final destination to generate $500 with six hours is plans only.
Entrepreneur makes money even when they are not working and on vacations but since we are talking about working the wages should be considered not the profits.

Only very few jobs offers $100/hour like anything related to cosmetic and medical apart from this its hart to reach such amount of wages.

It is what scammers try to advertise their services. Believe me, those guys are mainly scammers or from PONZI groups.

A kindful and wise person who are able to earn with that rate would be very happy to enjoy own works and earn money. It is not necessary for the person to run a service and get pressures, pains from customers.

Even you know the right person, a method is good for one person might not work for you or other else. The market is not built and bring profits for all.

As for passwords ... I would recommend thinking about a password manager like LastPass or KeePass.

I don't even know if selling of bitcointalk user's account is legal or illegal
Selling their accounts on bitcointalk is allowed which means the user who is selling and buying is not going to get banned but it was discouraged by the community so they will get a negative warning for potential scam.

while $500 can be achieved within six hours, let us understand that these forum is very potential.

Not sure in which country it is possible to earn $500 in 6 hours. Cheesy

Wow. I'm amazed at people who have the capacity to earn $500 in just 6 hours.

$83 per hour
$664 per 8 hours (Possibly a workday)
$3320 in a week.

I can't wait to earn like that, lol.

Bitcointalk users are now more than 3 million in total, the more people are joining makes this forum a great forum, it is the largest crypto forum in the world. Building account to full member, senior member, hero and legendary is not easy at all, that is why some people will offer his legendary account to be sold at $500, this is not a small amount of money, but selling of account is absolutely discouraged
I don't even know if selling of bitcointalk user's account is legal or illegal because from my perspective I think selling of accounts is not right, because the user might use it for illegal things in forum, and selling a senior member account  $500 is too poor because growing of account to the extend of senior member rank is not a day job, while $500 can be achieved within six hours, let us understand that these forum is very potential.

He was saying to use 2fa on their email accounts to prevent a hacker from hacking their email account, and using the email account to reset their bitcointalk account.

Quickseller, before you post for your signature, try to check for posts already pointing out my mistake in this thread.  Like, right above your post.

Oshosondy, before you create a new thread, try to check for already published threads on the forum, the content of which is similar or duplicate. I found three or four similar threads, with more detailed background information, (highly recommend reading). As for passwords ... I would recommend thinking about a password manager like LastPass or KeePass.

bitcointalk does not use 2fa.
Although Theymos had such thoughts a few years ago, I still think that the 2FA function on the forum will never be implemented ..

2fa
Some people's accounts were able to be hacked because their email was hacked and used to change their password on bitcointalk, supposing 2fa has been enabled on the email, it will be more difficult or impossible for such to happen. Anything online is not safe, using 2fa can make it just more protected.

In before the questions....

bitcointalk does not use 2fa.
He was saying to use 2fa on their email accounts to prevent a hacker from hacking their email account, and using the email account to reset their bitcointalk account.

It is good advice.

bitcointalk does not use 2fa.
I understand this, bitcointalk do not does not support 2fa, but google or other common email support 2fa, it will be almost or totally impossible for hackers to hack email that has 2fa enabled, emails which 2fa is not enabled could have been the reason some bitcointalk account were hacked. Because if user's email is known and can be accessed by hackers (very possible), then the bitcointalk linked to the email can be hacked.

Building account to full member, senior member, hero and legendary is not easy at all, that is why some people will offer his legendary account to be sold at $500, this is not a small amount of money, but selling of account is absolutely discouraged, it can even lead to fraud and other fraudulent activities. The forum account is valuable and worth hundreds of dollars if not even more, that is why forum members needs to protect their accounts, most stale members find it easy to protect their accounts but the newbies and Jr members might not know about this while some but few ranked members do not have concern about it until their account has been hacked. This has to be taken seriously because with full avoidance, it is possible for hackers not to be able to access bitcointalk account, if accessed it can still be recovered backed.

Ways to protect bitcointalk accounts

Use of strong password and never use passwords across different platforms
Some people are just liking to use weak password that can be easily gotten right by hackers and accessed but using strong passwords that will consists of different characters will help including alphabets, numbers, comma, dot, percentage and other characters will be more protective than using weak passwords. Also some people like to use same passwords for different sites, this is not safe at all, use the password that you have not used for other sites before is the safe one.

2fa
Some people's accounts were able to be hacked because their email was hacked and used to change their password on bitcointalk, supposing 2fa has been enabled on the email, it will be more difficult or impossible for such to happen. Anything online is not safe, using 2fa can make it just more protected.
