Whoever's asking you for proof needs to generate a random string for you to sign. Otherwise you could simply copy a valid signature from the actual owner and paste it to victims.

Open up Bitcoin core.
File - Sign Message.

Enter your Bitcoin address. Enter your message. Give this information to someone who wants to verify you and use the Blockchain to prove balance. Singing a message will prove ownership of address.

Hi Guys,

I'm starting a coin that requires me to prove my BTC balance. Any ideas on how to do this with out risking my privacy.

Screenshots wont do as they can be modified easily.

You're "starting a coin" but you don't know how to prove a bitcoin balance. Seriously.

I really he means starting a coin service/website or something. He can't be serious about making another coin.

You can prove that you're the owner of a certain address by signing a message with that address.

Others can verify if this is correct in their own Bitcoin wallet.

Indeed this is one of the best method to prove that you own some Bitcoin address.

on other hand you can send to someone small amount of bitcoin (0.00001 for example) to prove him that you are in a control of that address.
