Couple of years ago, I owned several bitcoins.
I was able to find my Private Key and recover my precious bitcoin <1 btc only.
What happened to the rest?
Did you lose the keys?

I initially though I could have more but unfortunately, its not. But its a good start for me I guess to get more bitcoins by buying then re-investing it. Yes I lose my private key but yesterday I found it in my old bag. So I was able to recover my wallet as well and the public keys.

Hello Everyone,

Couple of years ago, I owned several bitcoins. I never used it to do any online transactions so I think it is still intact as of now. However, I can't remember my bitcoin address, but I think I can get my private key because I know I print it and so I have a hard copy of it. My question is, if ever I found the print out and get my private, how can I recover my lost bitcoin? Do I need to download something like bitcore core? what would be the steps needed in order for me to recover it?

Advance thank you for those who can answer my question.

If You Want to Recover your Lost Bitcoins then you need to Find the Private Key And When you Found the Private Key you Just Need to go to your Wallet and Just import the Private Key and Transfer your Funds From the Address to your Bitcoin Address.....
But If you Don't Able to Find your Private then there is no other method to Recover your Lost Bitcoins........

If you remember your public key just using the wallet service provider retain the entire lost bitcoins, but you cannot use the same bitcoin wallet address anymore because the entire wallet balance gets imported towards the new bitcoin address. Else if you had made a backup previously it would help to retain.

Remembering your public address doesn't change anything.
Your private key is all that matters. First thing you should try if you ever find it is to recover it with the same software that generated your backup.
If that fails, you can try to import the key or sweep it to a wallet that has a backup.

Depending on the format*, you can either import it directly into many different wallets**. If a certain wallet doesn't support
importing private keys, it usually allows you to sweep them.

* https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Private_key
** Bitcoin core, electrum, bitcoin wallet for android (sweeping only),...

For example, using electrum, you would just download and install electrum, run electrum, when presented with the wizard that is run the first time chose "Standard Wallet" => "use public or private keys" => paste your private key => you're done...

In bitcoin core it would be something like Installing core => syncing core (waiting) => go to help => debug window => importprivkey yourPrivateKeyInWalletImportFormat "TheLabelThatIWant"

bitcoin wallet for android (sweeping only): IIRC, there was a button that allowed you to sweep a paper wallet, you need to convert your private key into a QR code tough.
