The address I sent it to wasn't used before. So why is it still confirming even though they have the money? It's 100 confirmations right now
Confirmations mean the number of blocks written after a transaction was included in a block.
I assumed the "still confirming" means the (fake) mixer shows the transaction as "confirming". I don't think OP meant confirmations on the blockchain.

Confirmations mean the number of blocks written after a transaction was included in a block. So, in this case, another 100 blocks have been added to the blockchain. If someone somehow wanted to change the block your transaction was in they not only need to have enough hashpower to change that single block but also the 100 blocks afterwards. The number of confirmations only will go up which is a way of expressing how secure the transaction is.

Well thanks guys. I won't use a mixer again. This sucks.
There is nothing wrong with using a mixer. The only issue is when you use a FAKE mixer. Would you stop buying online just because you put your credit card details in a phishing website?

Next time search for trusted mixers (e.g: ChipMixer). A simple google search and you would have seen that CoinMixer[.]io is a fake mixer.

If the funds did not arrive back to the wallet your specified at the time then chances are you have been scammed.
The funds will continue to confirm in the holding address as more blocks are written to the chain this is normal and will continue untill the funds are sent again to a new wallet.

There are very few trusted bitcoin mixers out now most just steal the users money.

The unspent part just lets you know the funds have not been spent and are available in that wallet address which is most likley held by the scam mixer.

They're probably scamming you. I can't find any information about coinmixer.io, only about coinmixer.se.

They aren't updating the status probably to give you a false impression and avoid giving you the money back. Anyone would've accepted the coins and mixed it by now. You probably can't get the money back even though its unspent, do your own due diligence next time when choosing a mixer.

CoinMixer has shut down. The official webwite was .se. I can't find anything about .io, chances are is a scam site.

when i checked on blockchain, it has an unspent status. i'm aware of the unspent meaning.
Just to clear things up: "unspent" means nothing more than "the coins are in that address".

is there anyway to retrieve that money back to me
No.
A mixer is supposed to send the money to the address you specified. I take it that didn't happen?

should i just count this as a lost?
Probably.

it seems like people are using this website as i go thru other transactions on blockchain/block explorer (people dishing out $20k-100k to mix the coins) so i'm kinda hopeful that the site will send back my bitcoins.
How can you "go through other transactions"? The whole point of a mixer is that they don't show transactions! If the address you sent your coins to was used before, it's a scam for sure.

it's less than $100 so why bother stealing it if people are sending more than that.
People steal anything, from cents to millions.

I'm sure this question has been asked before but i'm hoping there's a new breakthrough or suggestions. I unknowingly used coinmixer.io. i am totally new to bitcoins and listened to the wrong person. so my coins was sent to coinmixer.io from electrum and i checked the block explorer. the transaction has over 88 confirmations. when i checked on blockchain, it has an unspent status. i'm aware of the unspent meaning. is there anyway to retrieve that money back to me or should i just count this as a lost? it seems like people are using this website as i go thru other transactions on blockchain/block explorer (people dishing out $20k-100k to mix the coins) so i'm kinda hopeful that the site will send back my bitcoins. it's less than $100 so why bother stealing it if people are sending more than that.
