To secure bitcoin most important is a good wallet. Choose the best wallet and always keep your information only to yourself. You can also use cold storage or offline wallet like trezor, ledger.

Use Google authenticator,or SMS 2fa, not only email, ledger is so expensive so I recommend,:)2fa because if ever email will hacked I'm sure they got access from all your accnts but,if SMS authentication much safe and accessable only by you:)

Start with choosing a wallet that is known to be secure, such as a hardware wallet. They are less convenient but they are known to have higher security against hacking or theft. Some tips on keeping your crypto safe:

-Create backups of your wallet
-Don't keep too much currency on an exchange
-Use 2FA whenever possible
-Update your wallet software continuously

We go into more detail on all of this in our blog post so check it out  Smiley

There are 2 factors of security constraints:
1. Hacker. You should at least learn a bit about the security system that the wallet service offers for your bitcoins to protect your assets. The case of global hacking (occurring on multiple people simultaneously on 1 platform) is the responsibility of the wallet service provider. And if it happens individually (hacking the user's computer wallet) is not the responsibility of the provider.

2. Scammer. This person is the one who has no recourse to hack so that another path is deceived. (this is clearly the responsibility of each wallet users).

The general security solution I think is always being careful in choosing a trusted wallet service or saving of the private key.

Bitcoin/blockchain as a technology is very strong and you don't have to worry about your Bitcoins if you have kept your funds in your 100% control. In most of the cases, Bitcoins are hacked from the online exchanges or web wallets where the database is compromised from the server side. If you are concerned about the security of your crypto funds, always use offline wallets and maintain a high level of security even on the psychical level.

use hard wallet or offline wallet to secure your btc. you can purchase these wallets for 100,200 dollars and you will get a wallet just like USB known as teaser wallet or nano wallet. you can only use the wallet when it is plugged to your device (laptop, computer). very rare to hack

Many people have lost their bitcoin, it is not new news. Often such sad news is heard. For this we have to use our strong password first. To save data using your own hardware wallet. Use good quality antivirus. Avoid saving yourself passwords. And others do not use PCs in WiFi and PCs, especially cybercafes.

In addition to that, try put 2fa authenricator so that you make more secure your bitcoin. Lastly, do not ever share your private key and password to anyone.

The most reliable method is offline wallet. The value of crypto money has opened a new door for hackers. Plenty of stock exchange sites. Many people steal their accounts.
Get offline wallet if you want to protect your tokens.

Create portfolios or documents in tabular form containing your confidential information data, such as the following:

No Wallet Name Description
1 MyEtherWallet Public Key: -
Private Key: -
2 Vip Bitcoin User / Email: -
Passwrod: -
Etc.

There are also some people suggest using apps or adds-on password keepers, but there always seems to be issues that muck about security and convenience if not saved independently

If you use your hardware wallet often, you should definitely set an additional passphrase. That way, in case you lose your hardware wallet or have it stolen, you will not lose your funds (make sure to have a backup seed on paper somewhere).

Regular backups of a bitcoin wallet are essential to protect against computer failure, theft and human error, but never store them online, especially if the backup is not encrypted. And always use the latest version of bitcoin software, and use a password that is at least 16 characters long.

To secure your btc, make sure the website you're opening is private or the right site to open. Nowadays, hackers are using almost the same name of the site to get your coins, so make sure to check it. It is more advisable to open your wallet through acc add or json file w/password. Some users said it's safer. Also, never give your PK or password to anyone, who would do that? It's private so keep it to yours only.
We shouldn’t be naive when it comes to securing our assets because that’s where a lot of people end up making mistakes. Most of the stories about people losing their wallets are because the hackers most of the time got access to their wallets by phishing which is why we shouldn’t trust an links in our inbox.

to prevent hackers mate you should use a secure wallet that had a 2FA authenticator to assured it safe. but i suggest also to stay away to those people  who always send a link or always convince more people to browse their because of some reason. 'cause it either a phishing link or virus to obtain your personal information such private key password and etc. 'cause even your wallet secured there still a possibility to brute force your wallet and etc.

I suggest you use hardware wallets Smiley for example,

Nano Ledger S – Hardware Wallet

Nano Ledger S is just as secure as the other two hardware wallets. It is popular because of its relatively low price of $65 compared to its competitors. Being smaller than KeepKey, it is more portable and easier to carry around. It is a hardware wallet that comes at a very competitive price.

I think self-discipline is the core element to secure bitcoin or other cryptocurrency:

1. Don't tell strangers that you hold cryptocurrency on the internet easily.
2. Don't use "remember my password" function.
3. Use cold wallet.
4. Don't share private key to anyone.

Anyway more convenient, more dangerous.

Some ways of securing a bitcoin wallet :

1. Install Google Authentic (2FA)
Google Authentic or so-called 2-step verification is an Android-based security app that works to make sure whether the users who are logged in will be the people who own the account. How it works 2FA menggenarate a unique code in realtime which will be used to verify when you login to a website. This unique code generated by 2FA will change in less than 30 seconds, so when it's over time it will automatically generate a new code.

2. Maintain Private Key
A private key is a set of encrypted secret codes and only you know, every Bitcoin wallet has one or more private keys stored in the wallet. Private Key is mathematically related to all Bitcoin addresses that have been created.

3. SMS Verification Code
If the website provides this fiture you must enable it, use sms verification code for every time you login. This is an alternative way to secure Bitcoin wallet if a website does not provide Google Authentic (2FA) security fiture as well as vice versa. this way can be used if you do not have Smartphone (Android). In this way every one is trying to login using your account automatically there will be a notification via sms to your mobile number that has been activated on security sms menu verification code.

4. Do not Store Bitcoin in Exchangers
This is often misunderstood by beginners, many beginners who interpret the Exchanger is a wallet. Actually the Exchanger is not a wallet, a place to store Bitcoin but a place to trade Bitcoin, Saving Bitcoin in Exchangers is a danger because Private Key is held by the owner of the web owner Exchanger is not ourselves.

5. Unique Password
Use unique and long passwords to make it difficult for other people who want to break into our account, the use of unique passwords is also one way to secure our Bitcoin wallet, use capital letters, symbols, and numbers do not forget to backup it to avoid unwanted things such as forgotten etc. My suggestion to write it on paper and keep it in a safe place do not store it on your computer Hard Drive feared by a virus stealing your important data

Some bitcoin wallets use a lot of hidden keys inside. If you only backup the private key of the visible bitcoin address, much of the money may not be recovered from the backup.

Any online backup is vulnerable to theft. Even a computer connected to the Internet is vulnerable to malware. Therefore, it is a good security habit to encrypt any backup that is exposed to the network.

Single point failure is not conducive to security. If your backup is not limited to just one, bad things will make it less likely that the wallet will not be restored. You can also consider using a different storage medium, such as a usb drive, paper, and CD.

The wallet needs to be backed up regularly to ensure that all recent bitcoins and newly created bitcoins are included in the backup. Soon, however, all applications will use a wallet that only needs to be backed up once.

The most reliable way is of course copying keys to USB , in several copies - and carry one with you and the second to hide in a storage cell. This method is old, simple, and reliable. Well, or for example a tattoo with a key on the hand is also a good option)

I believe here it depends from amount of bitcoins you wish to keep in the wallet. If you have more than 10 bitcoins, buying one ladger or trezor wallet would be the best possible option. From 0.1-10 btc you can choose some good free hardware wallet, for low amounts you can always use blockchaininfo or xapp, both are online wallets they have been around for years and they operate for all this time without problems.
Today there are many wallets, they are trying to give the best protection and user friendly platform to attract more people to use it. There are many reputable wallets, choosing one isn't hard anymore like it use to be.

The offline mode of securing bitcoins is called cold storage. Cold storage wallets are not connected to the Internet and are thus less susceptible to hacking. Since accessing a cold storage wallet can be inconvenient, it’s best to split the bitcoins you own. Keep a small amount of bitcoins in an online digital wallet for daily trading needs and keep the rest in cold storage. Cold storage takes the private keys in an offline mode, thus decreasing the chances of theft. The practice of using cold storage is not only popular with individuals but even with cryptocurrency exchanges that deal with huge sums and are often under constant threat by hackers. The popular cold storage methods are paper wallet, sound wallets, storage devices (like a USB drive), and hardware wallets.
Keep your software up to date. A wallet running on non-updated bitcoin software can be a soft target for hackers. The latest version of wallet software will have a better security system in place thereby increasing the safety of your bitcoins. If your software is updated with the latest security fixes and protocol, you may evade a big crisis because of the enhanced security of the wallet. Consistently update your mobile device or computer operating systems and software to make your bitcoins safer.

Keeping the bitcoin and other digital currencies secure is possible with the careful handling of the wallets by the users. In most cases being careless serves to be the major reason for the loss of bitcoin. Most of the thefts are because of users' fault. It is impossible to protect yourself completely from thefts, but there are many things you can do to minimalise the risk. If you are going for a long-term investment then consider using a cold storage. Buy or use an old laptop and never connect it to the Internet. The offline computer will be used for signing transactions and the online one to create and broadcast transactions. It's one of the most secure methods right now.

hello guys,
Recently i've heard about many people lost their bitcoin. Someway their private keys have been leaked and hackers get access to wallet. So what measurements i have to take to secure my bitcoin and prevent it from stealing ?

In my opinion, just don't share any wallet address in internet because they might hack it in any ways. I suggest that you better to install a google authenticator because it give additional random passwords if you will do transactions specially in withdrawal.

for me, a key step to protecting your cryptocurrency is to store anything of significant value in a hardware wallet -a physical device like, a USB drive, that stores your private keys and currency locally, and isn't connected to the internet. Expert caution against storing large amounts of coins through cryptocurrency exchanges, or in digital wallet apps on your smartphone or computer.

I suggests if you use computers in a public computer shop, always be careful on logging in your account. Double check if you already logged out and make aure that your email is not connected to your other accounts.

At present, the price of bitcoin is over $ 8k. So, you have to protect your bitcoin carefully. I think you should store your bitcoin in Myetherwallet, not letting anyone know your wallet password. Not only that, you have to be careful with phishing sites.

I will just add some way of securing bitcoin. Make sure your email account is not connected to another account that you do not recognize. You should always review your linked accounts because it could be in the wrong use of irresponsible people. If that happens , you must remove the linked account immediately. Besides that, do not store bitcoin in large amounts on bitcoin exchanger site because it is dangerous. Don’t forget to back up your bitcoin wallet with hardware!!!

I will add how to secure bitcoin as I usually do. I always check my login activity. By monitoring login activity, you can see any login session (time, device or country) that you did not do. If it happens right out of any login session, means your wallet is not safe. You can also review and delete your email auto-forwarders. Because a hacker can activate the auto forwarder from your email to the hacker's email without your knowledge. The important information you send will automatically be known to the hacker. Keep carefull!!!

Okay, I'll share some tips that I am used to secure my bitcoin. First, keep your private key in a bitcoin wallet well. This is confidential, make sure only you know. Then, you can active 2FA feature. 2FA is a two-factor authentication function that provides identification of the true access to your bitcoin wallet account. This feature will also give notification to the actual owner. The notifications appear when the bitcoin wallet is accessed another person. The notifications will send via sms or other messages. This feature can be set in your bitcoin wallet settings. Then, use a strong and unique bitcoin wallet password, so no one else can guess it.

There are a few measurements to secure your private keys.

1) never disclose your private key to anyone or claiming airdrop.

2) beware of phishing websites, always check the website address you are trying to access.

3) secure your computer with antivirus software to prevent malware from stealing your private key.

I use a hardware wallet to prevent my private keys from leaking, you may want to consider getting one.

Perfect answer.
Now some telegram channel/group spreading fake airdrop and collecting ETH address. Then hackers try to get access and sometimes they wants private key.
So, only bitcointalk airdrop follow is best.

Hardware wallet so nore secure. I also thinking for buying a hardware wallet.

I suppose that you use hard wallet to secure your bitcoin. Also, secure your private keys in order to have a secure bitcoin. The use of hard wallet is to prevent your private keys to leak and be sure that your desktop/ laptop has an anti-virus software. Its much better than other wallet. Of course there's other wallet that is not downloadable. You can search for it if what is the most efficiently used by the user of bitcoin.

Bitcoin is a virtual money, and is a central attractions to many people that love money, For Example, like wise the way, we have a shop on the market Square, during the night, we make use of big key to locked your shop and it gets saved. The same application here on bitcoin, create account with Blockchainwallet.info and used a strong password, with Gmail account, is saved.

dont hold your key in online.try to hold it offline,or a paper.also every time use desktop wallet.I personally sugest you to use Electrum wallet for hold bitcoin.here electrum wallet link https://bitcoin.org/en/wallets/desktop/windows/electrum/

many are storing sensitive data in cloud storage and even doing a blunder writing private key when filling the wallet address form, I would rather use hardwallet for better encryption of data, it all returns to user activity pattern and better follow every existing crypto business , many phishing scattered with interesting promos also trigger people to make mistakes

One way you can do is to secure the private key wallet you have. Oh yes wallet offline with private key has a very good security level. If you are a person who has a lot of capital and try to invest a large amount and a long time then offline wallet can be an option, never use third party services such as web wallet because sometimes it is very risky. Adjust the conditions to what you want, use the web wallet for small transactions and require mobility. I'm sure we've all been smart in choosing which is the best thing in every opportunity.

If you want your bitcoin safe, you better look for a wallet whose security is hard to crack. But I see already a lot of wallets that the security is good. But I only use blockchain even though many other nice wallets. Because I think blockchain security is the best.

If your bitcoin is lost then it is your fault. Because Bitakayena itself is never acknowledged by hacking. However, if you understand that you have made a mistake. Be sure to keep the bitcoin that the wallet is private. If you lose your private key, then Bitcoin will not get back. So, to keep Bitcoin safe, you must keep the Wallet's private key.

Yes it's true many people have lost their coins I'll try and list all the possible steps to help yiu sercure your coins.

1) Do not store your coins on a exchange, and I repeat do not store them there.

2) Do not use your bitcoins wallet on a public wifi, and I again repeat do not do any kind of transaction on public wifi.

3) Make a electrum wallet and write all details in a place somewhere safe and do not share it with anyone. Alternatively Trevor is good but it's expensive to get but your call.

4) If you're not using it for a year or many years to come, make a paper wallet and keep,it away.

5) If you claim a fork coin, make sure you move your coins in a new wallet before you claim them.

6) Never share your seed, pin, or private key with anyone, do not fall for the offer get one btc free or any kind of free offer.

7) Repeat one to six you'll do good.

It is true that such cases are occasionally occurring, so we must be vigilant in securing our account or wallet, we should use a secure market and also use security codes like 2FA.
