Multisend seems the best available option for sending an erc20 tokens to multiple addresses and I guess it supports upto 100!

Full guide : Send ETH & ERC20 tokens to multiple addresses using Multisend, a dApp on Etherum Blockchain.

Sometimes i invest in projects via pools. And most of the times the tokens are sent by them using multisender so every participant gets them at the same time.
So nobody has an unfair advantage.
Therefore i can say that multisender is definitely a trusty way to send to a lot of people at the same time.
I have not tried it myself though to send via multisender, i only received through it.

I just started a new ICO project http://gembites.com/ (thread on BitcoinTalk about it coming soon) and I want to send out GBTS tokens to 100 users at once. Now, sending them individually will kill me in fees.

I have stumbled upon something like http://batchsender.com/#/ and https://multisender.app/#/

Can I use them for sending GBTS (ERC-20) tokens, are they trusty and are there any better alternatives?

most of develoepers team use multisender to send token in many address in same time.

If you have a coder/developer you can easily create a smart contract code with amount and distribution addresses, I hope you will charged for one transaction only via this process but you need to consult any smart contract expert for this first to be hundred percent sure.
and for team that have smart contract expert they use this way too. multisender or smart contract have same function and advantages,

I think majority used the sender app that you linked. I see many projects or bounty distribution using these app. So I guess this is more reputable to used. Why not send via smart contract? Like most projects doing, they code a all in distribution via contract less hassle but regarding fee not sure. But safety its assured.

I personally didn't have the need to send tokens to hundreds of addresses but if I'm seeing correctly, Multisender.app supports Ropsten network so you can use that network to test how it works. Here is the Ropsten network faucet where you can get Ropsten test Ether and give it a try.
