I don't have that button beside the quote button. How do I get it?
You don't have any sMerit to give, so the button is invisible for you.

Since you are a Jr. Member, you didn't receive any sMerit in the initial distribution. So the only way to get sMerits is by receiving merits.

For every 2 merits you receive, you also get 1 sMerit (0.5 per merit). When you have at least one, the button will appear.
If this is true, then bitcoin talk will eventually run out of merits.
Don't worry, it is. This was also my question few days back, but is then answered when i got a merit, it just magically appeared. I have been merited by TMAN (+4 merits) therefore i got 2 sMerits and a button to pay it forward.

Also, bitcointalk would not run out of sMerits but would increase gradually. If you think people would hoard it, which has no point since it will decay if not used plus merit sources' sMerits would be refreshed after  they used it all or about some time.

The information above is correct, take some time to read this thread. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/merit-new-rank-requirements-2818350

I didn't know that.  Embarrassed
Hm, probably newbies and junior members don't have that button yet. Anyway, for every 2 merits you receive you should get 1 spendable merit so probably then you will see that button. Anyway, read thread I posted above, maybe someone explained it there and I missed it and if no one reply you here ask question there Undecided

Basically a terrible new system. Just wait and look for "I will merit your posts for money" offers...

This is something I have been thinking of lately too. Maybe only members of a certain rank can send merits?

Hi,

I just learned about the new merit system. I think it's very good to have a merit system to avoid all the bot accounts.
But one thing have been hard for me even after searching around in many different threads about the new merit system.

How can I send merit to someone I mean deserves it?

Thanks in advance!
