im looking on advice on a relationship with someone you have been with for about 2 and a half years. when do you know the spark is gone or maybe its just over?
That's easy.
When I met my GF we were spending whole days together, just talking, watching movies, whatever. Basically when we were at home together we were sitting in the same room and were never bored. My parents on the other hand spent most time alone, they could be together at home and each tend to their own stuff. They never walked hand in hand and usually talked about boring stuff like shopping, money or plans for the weekend.

Feelings can't be proven or even defined, so you have to look at real facts, situations, and behaviors.  It's over when the two of you stop spending time together.

If you have a clearly-defined purpose in your relationship, then it is easy to look and see if the relationship is fulfilling its purpose.  Are you making progress towards marriage, lifelong commitment, making children together, and raising those children together?

Maybe your relationship has a simpler purpose, such as "I spend money on her, and she holds my hand and smiles at me when she's not too busy with other people."  In that case, if you're still spending money on her but she never holds your hand or smiles at you, then she is not fulfilling her part of the deal.
