True, they make money on every move. The only real useful service is that through an exchange, you can convert your cryptocurrencies into fiat money or into another cryptocurrency.
I have actually created a #2 Electrum wallet and transferred back the BTC I had on my exchange account, it worked. Thanks to all of you who helped me.

It's a bit out of topic, but I have read that the BCH is sort of manipulated/"doctored" by one or a couple of owners/miners, and this is a little worrying for its future. Is the huge market cap (and circulating supply) a sort of fake reality that can vanish tomorrow ?

Yeah you need to put your BTC into a new electrum wallet anyway so there really isn't any point to using the exchange. You're just paying extra transaction fees for no reason.

Thank you very much indeed for your prompt reply.
I have done that.

Now my Electron wallet indicates - if I convert properly the mBCC in BCH - that I have a number of BCH equal to the number of BTC that I had before the fork.
Can I now safely transfer back my BTC from my exchange platform account to my Electrum wallet ?

Yes, you should be able to transfer BTC back from your exchange into your Electrum wallet, but I would recommend using a new Electrum wallet with a new seed. You don't want to reuse the same wallet that you imported into Electon Cash for security reasons.

Hello
I am in the process of creating a Electron Cash wallet so as to claim my BCH. I have emptied my Electrum Wallet. But I am confused on how to do the transfer of the private key -or is it the seed only ?...

In Electrum when using "Export key", where will the key be exported ? To a directory in my computer, or will Electrum ask for a destination address like the ones used for BTC payment or transfers ? I suppose the latter ?
If so, do I have to create the Electron Cash wallet first, and then take a "receive" address from it, that I will enter in Electrum ?

Or is it only the seed that should be used (the thirteen words), and if so, how ?

I am a bit lost, and I would be grateful if someone could explain. Thank you !

Using the seed is the recommended method as that will ensure that all your addresses are transferred to the other wallet.

Just go through the process of creating a new wallet in Electron Cash and indicate you already have the seed. Then use the existing seed for your old BTC wallet.
