hee-ho.

Watchlist is also automated. Each time you post something (or start new topic), that topic is auto-added to your watchlist. Check it yourself.

Hmm. I've got nine pages of new replies and half a page of watchlist. Evidently this forum has some of problem with me. It's far from the end of the world but it was getting on my nerves for a while. I'll just have to soldier on regardless.

maybe you disabled it on Profile -> notifications and email -> "Automatically watch topics after replying to them."?

Why?

I've been using 'watchlist' from the start and it works pretty well. It does what the "Show new replies to your posts" does (shows new replies), but you can add/remove topics as you wish.

The new replies thing is automated. The watchlist appears not to be. I'd much prefer to be able to remove boring threads from the new replies bit rather than having to manually administer the watchlist. Or maybe I'm not doing it right. My watchlist is all over the place.

The only purpose I see for 'show new replies...' is to be able to track certain topics when you accidentally remove them from the watchlist.

Probably pawel is right.
I also use watchlist and it works very well.
Just try and post the specific problems you find.

I've asked this before too and the only answer is to ignore the new replies bits. Others suggested using the watchlist but I don't find that works very well.

Frankly, I don't even know what's the point of "Show new replies to your posts" option, I wouldn't mind if it was removed.

What you can do is stop using "Show new replies to your posts" and use "Watchlist" instead. Every time you post, the topic is added to your watchlist, but you can remove it by clicking 'edit watchlist', or you can just use watch/unwatch options (on top of each topic).
