Foreword
This book is not about how bitcoin works. Where bitcoin came from. Who invented bitcoin or how to mine bitcoin? This book is about how to use bitcoin. There is such a thing as paralysis by analysis and I feel many people are falling into the bitcoin rabbit hole without ever learning what is really important. How to use bitcoin.
I ask people to look at bitcoin the same way you look at any technology based hardware or software. Let’s use your flat screen television for an example. When you bought it you learned how to turn it on, how to turn it up and change the channels. You learned to use the features like picture in picture and how to sync it with your other stuff. I am guessing that at no time did you need to see a circuit diagram of how your TV works. As long as you can watch your shows, play some Xbox and go to Netflix you’re good with it. In other words you know how to use your flat screen television but don’t have a clue how it works.
My goal for this book is to show you how to use bitcoin. Not only that but I am going to give you some bitcoin. I will show you how to send it from one wallet to another. I will show you how to buy something with it. I will show you how buy more bitcoin. I will show you how to trade bitcoin on an exchange.
If later you want to learn more about bitcoin I encourage you to do that. Bitcoin is fascinating and in my opinion is man’s greatest invention. The block chain, the cryptography and decentralized network of computers is fascinating stuff. Mining bitcoin and things like hash rates are all really cool subject matter that will not be discussed in this book. The Bit-Kit goes on sale 3/20/15 follow me on twitter @bittholes for details.
