Investing in altcoins is a full time job because of that my advice is to approach altcoin investment with extreme caution, and be prepared to do a lot of daily research.
1) Make a habit to go on coinmarketcap every day and monitor the price of the top 10/20 currencies
2) Explore the community of the coin that you like and be sure they are active.
3) Train yourself to spot the scams: HYIP, Ponzis and so on.
4) Learn some technical analysis and trade on an exchange.
5) Research, research and more research!
The best way is to find a coin with a great community and strong backing. Do your research and don't rush in. Find that right coin and hold. Good things take time so be patient and you will come out ahead.
The only way to make profit from altcoin is to either trade them for daily profit or buy some potential alt or ICO tokens and hold them for few months.

Coins with the biggest hype will always earn you a nice income. In crypto hype means more than the product they deliver, at least in the short term.
Kindly find the good altcoins which have the PRE ICO stage or at ICO stage. This will help you to invest early in the coin and as a result will get at a discounted rate. Thus if the selection is right in future that coin will provide you very good returns and thus this will lead to high profits. Also you can trade in altcoins to generate some profits on daily basis.

When you buy altcoin then dont rush to sell it, be calm and wait for handsome profit and by the time you will definitely get profit. Just be aware dont buy scam coins that are on 1 or 2sat.
