Well, if it hardly pump after they released the coin then it is the sign that you shouldnt buy it. The reality is that they just pump the coin by those devs and owners to attract more traders but then left behind after that.

I have seen many altcoins that still down until now after the listing. And since hitbtc do not have a good reputation lately, we can not prevent thinking that some of their approved altcoins on their platform will be lack of potential, too. You can just stick to those established altcoins and those who have progress will give you potential gains rather those unworthy shitcoins.

This ICO hype is never getting old to others some of you are still too young to know what was the point of them making it in the first place. It is to gather some crowd funding for their project which is obviously some of them at the end of the day will be gone for good. Only investors who have access for the presale can sell those coins after it is being listed on an exchange.

A deep thorough investigation of the team is a must because you'll never know some of them are acting like they were on their profile but they are not and some of them can be proven by other members if there are dedicated members who would like to know them or know who you are working for.

These traps of pre-sale is not for ico participants in a campaign, you must be an early investors to them to gain access to their pre-sale once it's being listed in an exchange.

~snip~

Investment should be made after the huge investigation. Sometimes your investigation may leads to false one. With that you should start a investment. If the coin is listed above 10$-20$, just hold and don't inverse on that coin. Most of coin started with 10$ and above will reduced to the value of 0.5-0.1$. So investing with high value may caise a loss.Hold and buy at dump of price.
^ Investigation upon investment is a must because you will never know how truly their projects are or if that is only made by hype and there is a high potential that you will probably fall into the trap. However, the OP mentioned the hitbtc exchange which is I don't like, more and more shitcoins there listed, and most of them abandoned by the developer or the owner. I had better choose binance right now and do trading using BSC. I can not give more further explanation and I want you to have a dig deep research first before putting in your money.

a) why it goes so downhill after release? all ICO sell it or what is this a sign of? are all coins with chart like this (first price high, then fall down) a sign of something not going well?

b) what is this enormous high thin peak? some transfer to exchange or? 13th August 2020: 0.03USD -> 13 USD -> back to 0.03USD

c) if the coin is only on hitbtc - is it a scam coin as hitbtc or it can be just a good coin on a scammy exchange or is hitbtc any good? Have read a lot of sad stories on reddit about hitbtc that it is a selective scam or something.. don't know.. using binance so far...
a. Its a typical thing because investors would really be normally sell out their bags for taking profits which those blames do took all by bounty hunters.
main dumpers are investors itself so you shouldnt be surprised.

b. spikes like that are mostly error on buying on high price or same goes with selling which  could really create that spike.

c. I wont trust up any coins that it is only listed on one exchange because once delisted then its game over.
Just like on what op responded into this specially on letter C. then I do definitely agree on that part because if its just listed on one market for those coins to be traded off and suddenly they decide to delist it because of volume issues or simply no people been trading it off then that would really be putting you in trouble or which would really result into bagholding tons of shit coins.

Never stick out with low marketcap coins with very low volume because even though chances of some miracle pump could happen but it would really be just like a gamble.

99% of the projects never recover from their intial dump since 2017 because that time ICO was at its peak and sold their tokens for millions with no actual use case. And the trend remains same with the following projects as well like IEO,IDO,DEFI,etc, etc...

Once a shitcoin it will always a shitcoin. Even there are charts that are telling, once the coin started to decrease volume with no increase, and no update at all on the project, it will gonna be probably be playing by the founders, like pump and dumps.

Make sure the data is right, maybe it is just a huge wick played by some random whales which just want to attract small fishes or newbies in some random low volume exchanges, there are lot of them, they are just gonna do some pumps and dumps.

well.. that's a really IMPORTANT advice.. thnx man!

@wxa7115

you must remember that most icos offered discounts for their coins for early adopters which means those people had no incentive to hold their coins long term as they we are already theoretically in profits, so they just wanted out which explains the massive drop

so maybe there is always a risk with ICO. if you didn't get in at 0.001 pre-sale ICO, than don't go there after coin is listed on exchange and wait a little, if the price will not drop.. maybe that is a safer way to deal with ICO right...

For me, this kind of market graph in crypto is normal since volatile market is not new in crypto. It is just the market right now is more complicated and hard to read compare few years ago but it is also expected since it is globally and world wide market. For me, crypto market is becoming more and more exciting and interesting to study and analyze.

That’s a huge downtrend and almost become a useless project, and its still on the sideways trend which you can’t make money if you do trade with it. Wait for the sign of reversal before buying or before selling.

I’m not familiar with this project and have a limited details about it, if you do see some good progress about this project then you can keep holding. But for now, I don’t see any buying signal yet.

Many of the coins in hitbtc aren't worth it to take. And by judging the chart of it, I see no hope on it. Why would you going to waste your time investing on this kind of coin. (I know that it's just an example so please bear with me.  Cheesy)
Volume = $1k
Market cap = $36k
That would tell you to avoid it.

There is not much to explain, this seems like just another ico, you must remember that most icos offered discounts for their coins for early adopters which means those people had no incentive to hold their coins long term as they we are already theoretically in profits, so they just wanted out which explains the massive drop, then most likely a pump and dump group used the coin and that explains the second spike.

And after that the coin went into an even bigger irrelevancy, do not waste your time studying this coin, it has nothing to offer you even as a learning step.

This is really a bad story for hodlers who felt all was going fine while coin kept dropping because smarter guys kept dumping. The dumping may be because the ICO buyers have no trust anymore with the team, they don't like the road map, they don't like the exchange. Talking about exchange here, I give cartesi as example, it got listed first in binance and that discouraged hodlers and bounty guys not to dump because they weren't sure what would happen because it was in binance it may fly. Anyway, the people that dumped couldn't buy back at a price below at this time. The exchange listing is important for investors.

As far as I remember I gained a small profit from this token way back in 2017 on trading it in a short period of time. I recommend not trading it today since the project is most likely dead and it also has a very small market cap which makes the token dangerous, Investors on this project bailed out as early as they can for sure and dumped it all the way. hitbtc has gained such a bad reputation over time so you should not bother going there, also most of the listed coins are somehow like suretly situation.

pattern of the downward movement after release in the initial minutes and so descending so on. In my opinion, because many coin owners choose to profit at the beginning and do not feel confident about the potential of the coin in the future. This moment is usually done when selling coins that are obtained by free holders from airdrops, bounties and the like. It aims to dump the first users of the coin, and attract large investors to buy it back at a low price. call it a chain breaker and try to play the price by investors. I think this happens every time a coin is released on the market. for example: Uniswap, isn't it that the price is getting more expensive right now? well, that's the pattern played after the price fell in the hands of big investors.

This is pretty easy. It was a worthless project made just for the sake of getting profits. The investors and bounty hunters dumped the coin real hard during the launch which is why we see a huge downfall in it's price. Later may be some random pump and dump group would have pumped the coin and then dumped it which is why we see a spike in the chart.
There are many charts like this where the projects were made just for the sake of profits and not to solve an actual problem.

a) back then in 2017, the majority of investors were manipulative. they created a hype or even hire a media to boost the project and then dump the market directly after the price double. that was why an old conventional investor once said they all are immature kid.

b) hitbtc is famous for that, I have witnessed it by myself.

c) mostly they are, stay away from everything related to hitbtc. they are greedy af, as long as you pay any money. they will list you no matter what even though you are a serial scammer. well known fact.

HitBTC listing = 80 percent scam coin.  Grin
That exchange is still sending me emails even without me visiting their website.
It says I logged in to another country even if I didn't.  Huh

Let's just say it's shady to avoid any more conflict. But 80 percent again to avoid that exchange and then ICO's listing there initially.
Run as fast as you can and get your money back as soon as possible.

Those coins that was sold for a high value for their first days, hours, or even minutes upon their launch/listing then went down very hard the next periods, are, I can say that scams. Or they are those coins that doesn't really have a purpose to the market. They were just created to be sold by their early holders, then dumped their holdings. Even so, not all coins or tokens are like that. There are lots of coins right now which really risen up, I've seen a lot went 1,000% pump.

Downhill after release is the point where early/private investors dump their tokens and took profit. Maybe some of the team members did the same. When you see a chart like that, it's obvious that something isn't right.

b) what is this enormous high thin peak? some transfer to exchange or? 13th August 2020: 0.03USD -> 13 USD -> back to 0.03USD
The pump on initial exchange listing is usually a price manipulation to attract noobs into buying out of FOMO. Some exchanges were also involve in that kind of practice before.

I'm looking at the chart in August 2020 but I do not see $13. Perhaps you mean $1.3? In any case, there was probably a big news that made some peple hopeful and bought more. The immediate dump was another case of people taking profits from noobs buying into FOMO.

HitBTC is another exchange that do not have a good reputation. They were also accused of price manipulations by disabling deposits and withdrawals while the coins/token is pumping.
