I barely use it, just when my PC doesnt work basically.
I don't have any laptop, still using Desktop for everything.
I use my laptop mostly for work and in free time I watch movies or play games etc.
I have only an old laptop which I use to store some cold storage wallets.
I used to use it for gaming now I just use it for motion graphics and video editing for school.
Mainly for work, 10% of time it's downloading stuff from internet.
I use my laptop to remote into my desktop.
Pretty much this. 
It controls the media PC and daughter's because I ran out of working wireless keyboards (some broke, some daughter pulled keys off of and lost/hid). It has a more powerful CPU than any other computer in the house, ironically, but I can't stand using a touchpad and there's not really anywhere to use a mouse in the living room unless I get one of those laptop dinner trays, and then what the Hell's the point? I do bring it along for travel and use during power outages, though. Always hurts my neck no matter how I try to use it, though.These are mostly also the reasons I hate cell phones, except my phone can't even handle emulating a real OS well.

I use my laptop when I travel to places because I don't want to carry a large desktop computer everywhere I go.
I play Starcraft 2 on my 2 hour daily train travelings.
Gaming on LAN with friends and browsing shit, not much else.

I used to use mine for mining back in november/december 2013. I mined altcoins with it and got some profit, with my profits I bought a mining rig, with those profits I decided not to buy shit anymore cause too many are mining nowadays.

. Been surfing the web on a 17" laptop the last 5 years. Rarely go to my big desktop anymore.
Think you should switch back to a desktop... it's definitely better than laptops. Comfortable too if you have a good rig.
I can't game on my laptop as it is only a cheap little thing but it does everything else I need to do on the go.
Taking it to the university, games, web, chatting on Skype, watch videos and programming.
Just for browsing and watching movies.

My laptop has become pretty stationary. It's 17'' screen to begin with, so it's on the heavy side. Now, the battery is shot, i have it plugged to another monitor as well as speakers. So it doesn't move much, but i still prefer it to a desktop, because I can take it somewhere when I travel. Hoping to get a new one some day, since this is 4-5 yrs old now

My laptop is about 15 years old so I don't do too much on it.
But when I do it's pretty much shuffling files around when I'm out in the field.

Currently I'm playing Civ 5 in bed while listening to late night TV. ah the convenience of "modern" technology

I was using it to play around with OpenGl and see if I could do something cool with it. Ended up having problems with the GPU instead (it was an old laptop). 
I use it for all the things i would do on PC, i don't own a PC since i went to college. I play games on it (crysis 2, PAYDay....), i do home stuff (videos, photos, word, excell...) i even watch movies on it, but recently my battery died, even if i didn't use it too much on battery.
I used to mine with my laptop back when altcoins were new and fresh.

Anyway to the op question I use my laptop for personal use only and don't use it for work or anything because i like to keep things separate.
eh laptops are disappointing.. more expensive now, and there's always some sort of flaw that makes it a pain. i like my current laptop, but it's too big considering it's a 13.3 "ultrabook."
I've never had a problem with my laptops being too big. But they are getting more expensive and becoming a pain to replace and they are more prone to drops and bangs because they are portable.
my laptop is a 13.3 ultrabook but it's probably bigger than a regular 14" ultrabook.. it's a nice machine though, but just too heavy and big to be convenient.

I bought a net book for use while I was in college, it worked well for playing online between class and doing school work. I then converted my desktop into a dedicated bitcoin rig and was forced to use the laptop for everything at home. I've recently reclaimed my desktop and now the net book has been running a few gridseeds for me.

I'm mostly using my laptop for school, I go to college online which consumes about 100% of my time nowadays because now I'm a junior and getting towards the end of my degree. Other times I just web browse, I can't mine, and I can't play games on it.
Or I just doodle around in photoshop, and make stupid gifs out of movies.
I don't really use my laptop for much because it isn't powerful enough to do the things I want it to do.

it goes in my living room, to watch tv shows/movies via widi.. and to browse when i'm watching tv.
I don't usually use laptop. I when at home I am using my standard PC desktop. My laptop is too old to play recent games on it. So I use it only for data storage and net browsing
I don't use a desktop PC anymore. I do most of my work on laptops, normal web stuff on my tablet. I have a laptop for office work, another one for private stuff and an old one for bitcoin only. Desktop is a nice thing to have when you always work in the same place, but I travel a fair bit. Sizing down to laptops is inevitable.
I tend to keep my laptop plugged in which kills the battery and now it only lasts 5 mins when left off the charger

Pretty much what everyone else already said plus a couple more: Watching movies, surfing the web, learning about random things off Wikipedia, reading ebooks, posting on forums, listening to music, email, news, online banking, typing stuff, mucking about with programming languages but never getting anywhere, etc.
Not really that much into gaming however. I might be if my laptop wasn't 10 years old.
EDIT: Oh, and Bitcoin too. Not mining of course but just running my Electrum wallet.
