For same reason your post is spam because you post cant be demanded to place on reputation section.
It's not a spam post simply because it's in the wrong section, which I'm not even sure that it is.  Even so, you can just use the "report to moderator" button and suggest that it get moved.  If it really is in the wrong section, a mod will move it to the correct one.

But the sole purpose of mods is to supervise the section/board that they are assigned to, am I right?
Yes, but people should still be reporting spam posts regardless of what section they're in.  Someone will handle the reports, whether it's one moderator or several.

Mods can't win a war against machines (aka bots).
There used to be spammers posting advertisements for male-enhancement products and the like, and they were always from new accounts and always toward midnight in my time zone.  I reported every single one I came across, and they all got deleted quickly.  Spamming may not be a war where the enemy can be obliterated entirely, but moderators--with the help of regular members like us--can make a difference in reducing spam.  Just because things look hopeless doesn't mean we should give up and not act.

₿uy / $ell ..oeleo ;(
What I've seen till now is that theymos is taking back the control slowly. First was the politics and society section got new Mod, then Altcoins section got new Mod.
Bitcoin discussion section is much more clean now and thing are getting better.
I guess it will come the time to the Marketplace too, it's just takes time.
I'm pretty sure we'll find a solution to the Bot problem soon.

Mods can't win a war against machines (aka bots).
Even if they focus on the section of the forum, bots will change the section of the forum and the spam will start again, we need a restriction on the start of the problem and not on the end.

But the sole purpose of mods is to supervise the section/board that they are assigned to, am I right?
Yes, supervising these bots are such a tedious tasks but that is one of the responsibilities of the mods and we must encourage them to fulfill their responsibilities (even though it is very difficult, but possible).

Moreover, each one of us can report these bots by using the "report to moderator" function.  By doing so, we can lessen the burden on the mods.

Hello guys. Well i'm talking about the "Marketplace (Altcoins) -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=161.0
If you go on this section in our forum, you will barely see any thread that should be there.
99,99% of the threads have nothing to do with the section purpose...
Most of people do not sell/buy/exchange altcoins there, they just promote and spam off-topic things not based to altcoin marketing.
I believe this section should be cleaned from all those threads which have nothing to do with it.
This section should be used only as marketplace.
For buying/selling and exchanging alt coins.
Same as currency exchange section at bitcoin marketplace is used only for this.
Please, if someone could bring that to Moderators eyes, or someone could help, it will be great to see another section cleaned from spam and used for his purpose.
Seems you can't understand things well, buy/sell or exchange altcoins isn't must to do things on altcoin marketplace. Here is the bitcoin's general marketplace discussion: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=5.0 <-- it has sub categories because it's main here since website is for bitcoin. All those sub categories are united and given like all in one in altcoin's marketplace. You can offer your services, sell goods, announce a service or discuss about it here so don't worry, if you strongly believe there is spam thread, then just click on report to moderator and they'll take care of it asap.
There is sections for discussion, for bounty and so.
I understand that market place is market place.
Where people trade/exchange stuff.
That's why it is called marketplace.
Obviously ann threads, bounty threads and discussion threads have their own sections and have no room in the market place section.

If you think that SPAM in the creation of topics in that section, this is not a problem as all sections exposed to that problem and that section does not contain an excessive number of off-topic.
As for the spam in the comments/replies, I do not think since I have a topic in that section did not face many of the responses of spam within several months.
"Report to Moderator"  is enough.

Well, the reason i open this thread here is because most of us watch this section.
I guess every single report of merit abuse and everything abusing the system should be in the "report a scammer" section also but yeah.
I was just looking for some attention so i could help the community to clean this section full of spam.
I should report every single thread on the market alt section to be moved from there...

Edit: So far 45 threads reported.... only 400-500 threads left to be reported..
Will wait to see the result before spending my time on this.
Merit abusers needs to be tagged by the DT members that is why they are reported in this section but DT members are not mods so they can't do anything with deleting or moving the topics. So if you want to discuss about forum then it should be in META.

Keep reporting those spams and you can see those threads will cleaned up by mods in the next days.

This post would fit better in Meta board:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0

Also, I believe you should click "Report to Moderador"  on every post you believe should be moderate. There is far too much spam here, but mods read all our reports and often delete this kind of posts.
