I think they have asked you to verify your account may be because you have deposited fiat to buy bitcoin or you have only funded it with bitcoin?
I only deposit btc, trade and withdraw btc, no deposit fiat. At huobi.com I've already submitted ID, selfie with ID but someday they still want video verification. I wonder if it can happen again with other exchanges ?
how did you completed video verfication, can you guide me please,i have 0.7btc there

After hard work, I completed the video verification. Now, I can withdraw btc. I wonder what happen if I don't have documents they want ? I lost money ? I don't know I have to identity verify when I only want to withdraw btc, they don't write it anywhere. You imagine, someday suddenly you can't withdraw btc anymore, they tell you to video verify, you don't know if you have what they need and your account have much money.

Interesting. Now, I don't believe that centralised exchanges should be asking for your video ID, as it pretty much is the complete opposite of what bitcoin is made for - an anonymous decentralised economy. However can't put the blame all on them since its the government that wants to know your info.

I'd say just avoid certain exchanges that are known to do that especially in bitcoin grey countries like China if you are not comfortable with providing your video verification. I'm pretty sure coinbase lets you withdraw without ID even if you have violated their T and C's but I am definitely not sure about Huobi or BTCChina since I have not used their services personally.

It wouldn't really make sense to switch exchanges though, since you have already gone the extra mile to verify yourself on video Wink

Good luck with your future exchanges!

Yes this is the major problem with most of the centralized and legally regulated trading platform, thats why all we need is P2P decentralized bitcoin trading platform but few that have came up are still in premitive stage.

It is nothing strange that they want you to verify your ID. Most exchanges have something called verification tiers.
If you trade/withdraw more than their limit is, you need to verify yourself. Don't try to dodge it and comply with their policy - if you don't they might suspend your account.
When you have doubts just talk to them, I am sure they have someone fluent in English - or maybe even in your native language.

I used to withdraw btc many times before without problems, but 2 days ago when I withdrew 1.5 btc, Huobi want video verification. I don't know why ?  Because I have 172685 cny (about 25000 usd) in it ? Before that I often have around 10,000 usd. I'm very worried. I can't speak chinese. I don't know what is video verification ? What they want me to do ?
Ps: I only deposit btc, trade and withdraw btc, no deposit fiat. I'm using coincheck.com too, I wonder if it can happen again with coincheck ?
