Anyway, back to the point; we could distribute the .apk here on the forum along with a way of verifying the download, which in my opinion is infinitely better than hosting it via a third party site like Google Play.
Or we could just host source code and .apk files on github, that is if app would be open source.
Than we could add it to alternative platforms that host only open source android apps, like Fdroid, NeoStore, IzzyOnDroid, etc.
It would be a different story if app would be released as closed source.
Much simpler solution is mobile friendly responsive design for forum website.
However, I'm not sure if this would be possible with Apple devices? I'm not too familiar with them as I tend to avoid them like the plague, can you sideload applications without their store?
I don't think it's hard for any developer who would create bitcointalk android app to convert it for iOS app that works on apple devices.
Problem is that we would have to wait much longer for app to be investigated, approved and released on their store.
