Heyooo. I'm A_Pickle.
I'm a pretty Libertarian-minded tech guy. I like computers, and I build them and fix them for a marginal living. I was aware of Bitcoin when it was $0.04 per BTC, and I didn't invest. Now I'm punching myself in the face on the half-hour pretty regularly. On the upside, I bought a Radeon HD 6850, which isn't the BEST for Bitcoin mining... but it's also not the worst, so there's that. I enjoy watching Brian Cox soothe my mind with insights about space and time and the Universe while toking from a bowl, but saying things like that has the possibility of getting one into trouble with the State -- this is why I'm fond of Bitcoin.
I'd like to get started on Bitcoin mining, but I'm having all kinds of problems with GUIMiner, sort of. It's probably a PEBKAC issue, but there's really poor documentation on it, and Google has been next to useless, and it's difficult for me to wade through 60+ pages of forum banter to find my solution. I get around 170 MH/sec when I use the OpenCL miner, but I can't even get CGMiner to start mining, and trying to use poclbm and Phoenix has been difficult. At the moment, I'm trying to fix that AND overclock my video card, so I can hopefully get around the 250 MH/sec that
this page says I should get.
This is what I get whenever I go to "File --> New other miner" and select poclbm.exe or phoenix.exe.
