Can anyone out there tell me what the settings are to use another modem on my current cable internet provider?  I currently have cable internet and I want another IP address so that by buddy can be in the same room with me when we play poker online.  I do not want to pay $90 for that second IP, so I am trying to use another modem that is compatible with the service I am using in order to get the is second IP.

why not use tunnel bear. its cheap and free at first.

cable internet providers need to settings in your pc but using modem you don't need to change settings.just install your modem and connect from the modem window. My suggestion use VPN for change or getting another IP it will be really flexible for you.thanks

Typically cable ISPs just ask you for the MAC ID of the modem you're going to connect to their coax, and it's dynamically assigned an IP. You'd have to ask them if you can add a second IP to your account, or if it would require a second account. One would think each modem would select different frequencies to be able to share the same coax.

so you could just buy an usb modem and insert a sim card on it,the IP would changing every you connect to the internet if you use this modem as it's dynamic IP ,or if you don't ,simply buy a VPS and make a remote desktop connection or VPN from it so you could get  different address just spent $5 a month,it'll fulfill your need sir
