I dont find it boring at all!
There are so many differing opinions and so many aspects / use cases that it boggles the mind. I find on here you need to separate the wheat from the chaff though.
I think one of the last exciting ideas for cryptographic private keys was the use of a private token stored in your car keys. And therefore the need of the private token to start your car, or "selling"(=transfering the token) over the blockchain. That is cool stuff. But it's boring now - someone has to implement it. And that takes time.
I started trading ... fun new hobby
I was trading too, a few altcoins. Made nice profit last month. But now the altcoin market is dead. And i am not as stupid as Matthecat to try to play the daytrading bitcoin game. A whale would eat me the second i step into the ocean. (You have to admit your limits at some point)
OP, you're doing it right for a new guy. Buy low and hold. Dollar cost average and hold.
Caveat: Make sure you understand the technology and don't invest money you can afford to lose.
Three great ways to lose money in this game:
-daytrading (watch the market for a year first)
-altcoins (most are pump & dump with whales waiting to take your coin)
-emotional panic selling (many of the troll accounts are the same people, think about it)
Thank you, i do not invest more than i can afford to lose and i will never sell with a loss. No one will ever make me sell my coins until they reach my desired price point. For me, there is no panic selling. These are just new buying opportunities, that i am willing to take.
Have you tried spending bitcoin? That is fun.
Not yet, but in the future i will buy a broadwell cpu for myself with bitcoins.
It's working. They want you to get bored and sell your coins. There are only so many out there.
Well jokes on them, the longer the price stays low the more coins I will have when it does rise.
That is the correct attitude. The longer the price doesn't move, the more bitcoins i will hold.
Holding onto and not spending any money is not fun. You need to buy things with it and get the fun you desire.
I have more fun watching my stash of coins grow every day. This gives me some kind of deep satisfaction.
Yes, it's boring like Jan - Aug 2012 was boring. Price was range-bound ($4 - $8, IIRC). The only thing happening was that more and more smart people were working to build products and services that enabled humanity to capitalize on the best form of money ever invented.
Edit: If you're not still at least a little bit in awe of how bitcoin essentially solves money perfectly, then you're probably missing the point of money in general to some degree.
Oh, i am. Don't worry.
