If you are sure you did everything right while taking into account the fee charged, then the problem could be that some of your orders are yet to be filled up, because there is no other way to explain what happened because that's a big difference and such can't be used as trading fee, so that order part could be the best explanation there. So just head back to your account, and check on your order history to see what happened and how many that was filled, but however, if everything is in place and the order actually filled completely then contact their customer service for explanation. Most times people have been complaining of Coinbase, therefore if you can, try another exchange like Binance, it is quite better.

I'm just interested why you aren't trying to contact Coinbase support? At least they'll explain the reason of such problem. I'm sure a billionaire company like Coinbase has no need to steal your $100.

I have sent a dozen emails to them and Im still waiting weeks for aa reply.

As to frank1's post I kind of sort of get that but I have never seen an order part filled and I dont belive I was even awake at 7AM to place a market order.

seems very simple to me. if you put them in the right order based on the time
buy BTC/USD 372.67000000 USD 0.01262444 $29,372.84 $1.85 Jan 01, 2021 - 07:03:00 AM
Jan 01, 2021 - 07:32:13 pm EST BTC 0.01680707 $492.02

it now looks like at 7AM you partfilled an order for 372.67(0.0126)
then 12 hours 30minutes later the other part order filled giving you 492.02(0.0168)

yes the $balance would show 0 at 7am because the money is locked to orders(pending)
yes the $balance would show as 0 at 730pm because the money is spent(filled)

however you are showing you now have 0.0168btc as of 7:33
at todays value that 0.0168 is worth ~$625 at time of writing this post

Pretty much, I think some of your money is in limbo, you might have to cancel a pending order.
I don't think you'll lose the fee on that. But then you lost the chance to buy at the price you would have gotten.

In short some of your money might still be in the order book. It would show under pending transactions and you can look at it and cancel. Let us know if that was the case.

Theres nothing under pending transactioins just filled orders so nothing to cancel. I cant figure it out and coin bases customer support must be over loaded right now because I still havent heard back from them. The fee was like $3.18 not sure if thats a fee for 500 or 372. Someone also sent me coins from their coin base account to mine and the coins never showed up even though it shows in the block chain. Despite multiple email to coinbase we still dont know where the coins are. Somethings wrong or over loaded. REALLY BAD time to miss out on this ATH thats seems to be crashing and Im considering selling all my coins if the price drops a little more.

I guess there's a misunderstanding. There's no reason why your BTC value would decrease since you said you purchased at around $29k, while now it's above $31k. And there is no exchange which would charge high fee. I guess some of your order isn't filled yet. Have you chacked your order history and current order list? That would solve your mystery of losing fund I believe.

Did coinbase just steal my money or am I an idiot that shouldn't be playing with such things? Smiley

first you choose Coinbase as bitcoin storage. by buying there, of course you have to know how much bitcoin costs when every purchase. in fact you're in a rush without noticing and calculating the calculations of takers and makers on Coinbase.
do you have no other choice but coinbase? You have to decide before you execute.
accused of theft? not enough evidence.
because in the event of a theft, where the thief leaves a lot of your bitcoins, obviously they'll take it all.

try checking your ex-transaction page. maybe something is forgotten.

I was being sarcastic about the theft part. It was a market order that executed right away and was for a very small amount. I use coinbase because they seem reputible and have never had a problem since I started using them in 2017.

Im just trying to figure out why it says two different amounts for all I know the 500$USD went and the 370$ number is wrong.

Not enough info to answer this question.

500 usd order for btc at what price ?

492 after fees is possible

but maybe 372 fill and the other 120 did not fill due to a price change in btc.

if you bid 29000 a coin and 500 usd worth at that price it is possible you partially filled the order.

Cause price went up.

500$ market order filled right away @ $29,372.84 per coin at 7:32PM, the order executed immediately. Paid $7.98 in fees because it was a market order and not a limit or other order.  But even if it was partially filled my USD wallet balance went from $500 to 0.00$

I just bought 500$ in BTC in my coinbase pro account from $500 cash balance and in my "portfolio deposits" tab it shows a filled order for 492.02 (500$ before the fee), but when I check my " orders filled" tab it only shows $372.67. I placed the order a few minutes ago at 7:32, but under "Orders filled" tab the time is 07:03 AM; but I wasn't on the site at 7:00 this morning and looks like I went from $492 down $372. Why the descrpancy?

Here is what the screen says:
