Hmm. This puts a dent in my plans to cash out through Bitinstant's Paypal manager. Their reviews page is just awful too, but I thought I'd be able to handle it. What are other ways that I can cash out to USD? I'd prefer the quickest method over the "least percentile fee" method.

try coinbase. they only charge 1% fee not 4% like bitinstant. it does take a bit for them to verify your account like 2-3 day set up. after that they transfer into your account just like that.

Overall bitinstant is a pretty great company. Unfortunately they, just like everyone else right now, are going through severe growing pains due to all the extra demand and the instability of bitcoin.

They aren't going to take your money, it does suck though that they are unable to communicate with you more clearly though. There customer support staff seems to be OVERWHELMED right now.

It's not just bitinstant though, its pretty much everyone and everything in the bitcoin community right now. I've been trying to purchase bitcoins for the last two weeks and haven't been able to.  It's been a real eye opener to see how immature bitcoin still is and how much progressive we still have to make for bitcoin to ever become more mainstream.

My current problems are with dwolla right now, I won't rant and rave about the problems I'm having because I know overall they are a good company. It has been a mess and a huge headache for me right now though.

I think the answer is on their "How it Works" page

Quote
Bitcoin exchanges sell Bitcoin. BitInstant does not sell Bitcion. Instead, BitInstant assists exchanges and other merchants in receiving payment from Customers in the most efficient way known.

in other words BitInstant gets cash through their various merchant accounts which it then transfers to exchanges "in the most efficient way known", thus undoubtedly using it's own reserves of Bitcoins which it sells on the exchanges buying your Exchange-Account a "cash deposit".

So, when the insanely too volatile, unregulated, grossly unstable, unreliably priced Bitcoin Derivative market crashes in 10 minutes time, they loose a boatload of money being forced to execute quick exchanges to transfer converted sums, the same way merchants foolish enough to use Bitcoins or Exchanges foolish enough to keep their segregated customer cash accounts in Bitcoins would have been in the massive devaluation crash.

Price stability is the critical issue that will kill Bitcoin if exchanges can't be properly disciplined into the well regulation of BTC value.

I know everyone keeps hating on Mt. Gox (and there shutdown have been terrible) but transferring money via BitInstant to them went through before I could even leave the counter at Wal-mart.  My phone literally beeped seconds after she pressed the button.

You do lose some % though which sucks.

This will get me banned probably but I can't take it anymore!!  BITINSTANT WILL TAKE YOUR 500 AND NEVER CALL YOU OR GIVE YOU YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OVER A WEEK AND STILL NOTHING!!! I HATE BITINSTANT

on Saturday, no not yesterday but a week from yesterday, Saturday the 6th! I bought a 503.95 BITINSTANT money transfer to my account on Bitstamp. I have done this several times and some of them took more than an hour one took almost a whole day. but this one has taken OVER A WEEK!!!

This is an outrage! you can't just take someones money and not give them anything, not a phone call, not a message, not any bitcoins, not any money! ridiculous!

I have called several times with several messages, have done the insta message thing...live chat that is NOT live. have filled out the new form a few times and still no money.

I have asked the wonderful people on here what to do and they told me to PM charly on here so i did, several times, asking, pleading with him to review my case.

the automated email got from bitinstant minutes after i deposited the 500 to zipzap stated this

"""APIResponse: {"error": {"amount": ["You have only $-47.04 available. Check your account balance for details."]}}"""

how can this be when i just gave them cash money.

i have given bitinstant
1)cash
2)the benefit of the doubt, maybe they just got behind no big ill just wate a day
3)my phone number and email to contact me so we can work this out
4) all necessary order numbers and documentation proving i paid the 5 one hundred dollar bills
5) patients ...

#2and#5 have ran out!  the only response that i got was yesterday one full week after the deposit (and a lot has happened in that week!) it is as follows.

'"Our reserves are currently depleted at Bitstamp, but as soon as they are replenished I will issue a manual transfer. Sorry for the delay.

 ---
 Sincerely,
 Seth"'

FUNDS DEPLETED!?!!?!?! I GAVE YOU CASH. FIVE HUNDRED AND THREE DOLLARS AND 95 CENTS. THIS IS BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT USE BITINSTANT UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF AND YOUR MONEY TO DISSAPEAR AND HAVE NOBODY CALL OR WRITE YOU TO RESOLVE THE MATTER. F BITINSTANT. THEY RIPPED ME OFF
