Could anyone in here explain what are the resources require for mining? Are those change with the type of Altcoin that we are gonna mine?

You should take advantage now for you are not paying huge bills. What I recommend is buy the Antiminer S9 that would probably make a good choice.

before doing the mining you should know how much coin that you can get in the future,
if you are using an old hardware i do not recommend you to mine Bitcoin because it is very hard to mine.
also it will cost you alot in the future.
if you are using a GPU or VGA to mine it,it would be better for you to mine ETH instead mining Bitcoin and Litecoin at this moment.
buying a hardware on alibaba is not good and at the same time it is not bad either.
if you're lucky enough you will get a good hardware, but if you're not.
you will get a second hannded hardware or even worst than that.

For a personal rig, it's better to go with GPUs rather than ASIC and Scrypt miners. So, it would be easier, simpler and beneficial to mine Eth Equi or cryptonote or similar algo.

I am so unbelievable stupid. I used to live in a dorm and had free electricity since it was part of the rent. I should have mined Bitcoins back then.. I was too hung up on other things back then:(

I would go GFX and mine some ETH if it where me and invest that income into different alts.

I used to live at a spot that used to be military and then they converted it so it was free electricity.  Wish they had bitcoin back then.  Haha

Yea I hear they give off a lot of heat, and are loud. I'm in an apartment, this is where I'd be keeping  my miner.

If you are using it in an office type environment, just know that most miners are extremely loud and generate a lot of heat (they are as effective as an electric heater!!)

What is your country and why are u enjoying this free electricity?  I think it depends upon your investment u have.  If u have good amount then mine bitcoin with high speed mining device if u can efford.

Are you truely not paying for electricity?

Often when you don’t pay for electricity it is based on normal use. When you start mining someone will notice the huge bills and will start looking what is causing it.

I wouldn’t mine the big ones. Look for interesting smaller coins in the CMC top 100.

₿uy / $ell ..oeleo ;(
I can suggest mining a Monero. You can mine with GPU and CPU. I'm mining at the moment with PCs with around 1000H/s together. I do pay electricity but I mine it more for investment, and use the PCs as a heating in the winter Wink

That is actually one of my plan. I have a close friend who also have free electricity and we are thinking to buy rigs to mine different coins, like btc. However, we are not yet experts on it, so we are buying more time to study and get to know more all about mining. We don’t want our investment go to waste. Rigs are very expensive investment, no need to be greedy.
I'd start with GPU mining, ASIC machines are hot, noisy and have more chance to break. Also with free electricity consider buying old gpus like radeon390 they are cheap and hot but performance is good

You can mine new coins that have low difficulty. You can sell them after 2-3 yearz when cost lf coins will rise.

Hmm.. I see. Well these profit calculators state I'd be making 900+ with a 13.5 th hash rate due to no electricity cost. Only thing is internet. Or are the calc wrong?
Is there somethint else I need to know in regards of mining and how to calculate profit correctly? I also saw pools take 1%-3% of return.

Electricity is half the battle. Other half is the wear on equipment.  I mine with a spare computer at work so I don’t pay for electricity. I also don’t make much. It’s more for fun for me.

Hey guys,
I'm new to the crypto mining world. I dont pay for electricity so I would like to start mining ASAP. I Wish I found out about this long ago. But I have few questions.
1. Should I mine Bitcoin or Litecoin?
2. I was very close to being scammed by oscmining.com, what are some reputable website that offer mining hardware without bulk ordering?
Buying through Alibaba  seems good thus far
