I would just create a blockchain.info wallet and import the found wallet.dat files directly to it. You could lose your bitcoins if you play around with your files when you don't know what you are doing.

While we are on the subject ... have you encrypted and backed up your wallet yet?

Paste them into your Bitcoin AppData folder in Windows, and send them to one centralized wallet that you own.
