You can imagine 1xbit with all the accusations on it, yet users on the forum are still running signatures for it where as, some even invest on the platform.
There are those who run signatures for them just to spite the BTT community, and those are the already tagged users before the campaign began. However, there are a handful of those who got in without a negative tag, risking it. I read the response of a user concerning that issue and I couldn't believe what I read. I think the user was a Member ranked fellow or so, and they said they needed to make a living and since campaigns weren't available for their rank elsewhere and 1xbit provided an opportunity for them. So, they risked their account for it and got tagged (expectedly, of course). Sometimes, I see 1xbit former participants trying to get in other campaigns and they always meet a brick wall. Obviously, most of them getting in now don't realize the enormity of what they're doing to their accounts.

I really believe it's advisable to always check the scam accusation section just to enlighten your self more, I reported some scam applications which I discovered on playstore last year which I believe it will have helped lots of people because the will definitely avoid the app whenever they see it on  playstore.
There are still lots of scam apps, website and coins which are not yet reported on playstore but it those not mean that they are not scam, after checking Bitcointalk scam accusation section I will advice you to do more research outside Bitcointalk just to be very sure.

I was surfing the forum today and I came across this thread

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0

Its actually names scam accusation thread, many newbies might not know how important this thread is but I've seen few projects getting exposed in this thread, if you are looking for new projects and you have some doubts about the project take your time to check this thread maybe there is a scam accusation already going on.
As a part of your research to a certain project, visiting this thread is a need for you to sure that they don't have bad claims. But please be reminded that this is not enough to say that it was safe and we can assure you that this particular project won't scam you either coz many projects looks look and promising at the start but they end up like scamming, an exit scam.
Well, at least visiting the scam accusations board gives you some insights and got aware of the projects that have bad reputations already so we can avoid them.

I don't thread quite often in that board as I am not that quite active of a investor of any projects these days, though I am cautious on those fake websites being posted there. Mostly I make a bookmark on the websites that I commonly visit especially if it involves my own money.
Back then I even recall one scum project trying to phish me into their fake MEW website, lol.

It is really something interesting. I was somewhat not impressed with your discovery as I opened the thread. But on a second thought, it is fine you discovered it. When I was a newbie I didn't even know such board existed. It will be good if you can discover more things in the forum by following the advice of lovesmayfamilis above. Study the search option and you will be amazed at what you will discover.

Yeah, that's the main reason this threads were made some months ur years ago, for this same reason which is to create awareness to newbies and at least it has been creating imparts without our knowledge until now, kudos to the creator Cheesy
There are very many scam accusations about diverse websites but as we all know that informations sometimes might be falsified, so some are literally true but some are false...now it's on your own side to read about any sites you're planning to game with or make proper investigations about any suspicious activity in any sites so you could also help expose them yourself.

All I can say is people are desperate, desperate to fight for justice or desperate to bring down what is good, everyone have their own reasons for going again anything it might be for good or for bad, assuming you are a developer and your utility stands out among the rest where as some people are just hating on you and not want you to prosper? That's the kinda sh** I'm talking about, do not believe everything you read on that section of the forum, take care.

Don't rely entirely on that scam accusation section because not all accused projects are really scam, I've seen whereby many members are calling a project scam but as time goes on the project was neat and teams are real members, do your own research and don't be too quick to judge.
You're correct when you say that not every accused project in the scam accusation section is actually guilty, but more often than not whenever many users (reputable ones), and DT users point at a project as being a scam, it usually is, or turns out to be, mind you also that whenever a user brings a case to the scam accusation section, they are always asked to report such case along with evidence of why they think such project is a scam, it's through such evidence that forum users and DT users decide if such project should be tagged. Many a time, users have brought forth accusations against one project or the other, and it has been deemed as not having enough evidence to call them (the project) scammers. But users should not forget that scams remain unmoderated by the forum, so you'll have to prevent yourself from being scammed at the initial stage, cause the forum can only tag to warn others not to fall victim, but that must be after the initial victim has lost their funds.

If there is a SCAM accusation thread, not always the project is SCAM. Sometimes people just want to take down a project or buy cheaper. But there are not so many cases with this scenario.

Most of the projects that have a legit SCAM thread are already tagged by Default Trust members  and have negative trust, see the pic below. Sometimes you can see a warning like this on the picture when there's an open flag against the project, which most of the time has a link to the accusation thread.

The example ANN thread.

Maybe, that's a great idea for bounty hunters, but I think things like very few care about fraudulent projects etc, most projects caught fraud after completion and mid.

I think for beginners, many people know about fraud board, they just don't care about it, can say 10 projects 5 scam and 5 successful, that's mostly the principle of bounty hunters, believe it or not it's reality.

From that reason, those newbies don't care about the project caught cheating, look for another and look for another, the warning is just a warning.

To be fair, though, it is an accusation section so it does not really mean that projects having accusation threads there are automatically scams. Let it be known that a lot of people immediately scream scam every time they encounter something they don't feel right. That's even before enough research is done.

Secondly, the majority of new coins introduced to the market are probably scam. Most of them don't have accusations in that particular section. Moreover, in its broader sense, even a lot of popular coins nowadays, those that are riding the hype, are scam. Most of them are simply created solely for the sake of hoping it could gain value. That might include the token you're a fan of.

I have checked the scam accusation many times and I post there also, I have seen many fake sites that are exposed there, I remember when I saw a fake electrum all on google play store, I complained about it there, before I know it, it does not take 2 days when Google removed it from the available app on play store, the board is a very useful baord.

But you do not have to wait to see if a site is legit or not, if not found on the board, you can create a thread about the site you want to use, asking other users if the site is legit or not.

Well done, the problem we usually see in that section are newbies going to complain that they have been scammed, when it is a site that had been exposed as a scammer some time ago, and they only realize it now, when it is too late.

Keep investigating the forum with that curiosity and you'll be fine.

Just a heads up to the readers that while researching a project/platform's reputation is great, not because you didn't see scam allegations on that project/platform it doesn't automatically mean that it ain't a scam(or at least shady). Always remember to intelligently judge the project/platform yourself as well.

It's not a big deal but is still okay that you've found the same accusation board. It means, your doing yourself a did of good by navigating and getting better acquinted with the forum. Mind you, there exists a difference between a board and a thread.
A thread is individual owned and its content is created based on a users perspective about the subject,  just as you've done in this one while, a board is a forum owned and a platform where all the threads and instruction materials are displayed.

The sad story is, most users care very little about the scam accusations on these reported platforms or sites. You can imagine 1xbit with all the accusations on it, yet users on the forum are still running signatures for it where as, some even invest on the platform. Not to mind, some users with a quick desire to make some cool cash just jump over whatever they feel is promising without proper DYOR. It's very wrong!
