Subj: I gave $5 in BTC to a cypherpunk...
we wouldn't have BTC without these guys.

Recently I read an article that compelled me make a donation.
The World’s Email Encryption Software Relies on One Guy, Who is Going Broke

Luckily the crisis has passed and others have heard his call, but I still feel I should have acted without prompting.

As I've taken on encryption tech as a summer project I've used a lot of things created (either all or in part) by volunteers, such as:
  • GnuPGP
  • OpenSSL
  • OpenSSH
  • Tor
  • Cygwin
  • Python
  • Raspberry Pi
  • Wikipedia
  • Reddit
  • WikiLeaks

Besides my concious calling, I do get a kick out of thinking I may be giving some BTC Satoshi himself.
