- Write down private keys or mnemonic seeds that help you to recover your wallet later (on same or different devices)
- Save backup files in secret and safe places. Should be Offline.
- Don't make noise and tell everyone that you are a Bitcoin investors
- Try to practice wallet recovery, and do it successfully before you buy your first bitcoin and store it in that wallet
I also want to add something.
When downloading and installing wallets. Do not just trust them, verify the signatures. Lots of people have lost a lot of Bitcoin because they downloaded malware that was tricked to them as a wallet.
If you are going to keep a lot of Bitcoins and other crypto for a long time, I suggest you buy a hardware wallet. Some of them go for less than $100.
So how could it be filtered or shall we say to check if it is legit? It can be hard especially if not familiar with the sites and links I usually visited.
Anyway, the man interest here is all about finding a good btc wallet. For now, I have mycelium wallet which I think a good online wallet with some secured features. But it could be still at risk with those people around who are also genius in making a way to disclose wallets credentials like btc private keys or worst the seed phrase.
