I went for the nvidia  should arrive in a few days.

if I were in your shoes, my choice would be the same
or there could be some alternative, here is the point. taking into account the sizes of nowadays games or movies, I could go for a 1TB SSD drive.
may be very handy  Roll Eyes

id always vote invidia over the resaqle value alone, second to its reliability and cost/performance they have always given in recent years.

There is no difference in my choice on the above post is my own opinion I'll go with Nvidia because more people are interested in Nvidia cards than AMD. If you compare them to AMD cards 1660 will give you more options to mine than AMD and I think Nvidia cards will give you more daily profit than AMD.

I just add my vote to Nvidia way more better than AMD.
- Good for resale
- give you better hashrate
- make more profit if you have free electricity

I hope you get better choice...

If you want to consider resell value then get the Nvidia. The AMD always have terrible resell value especially now that we are in a down trend.

Whenever you list a GPU on Craiglists if it's Nvidia it seems to find a buyer pretty quick however with AMD it always takes a while to find a buyer.

This is similar with the CPUs, the Intel processors always sell quickly while AMD on the other hand takes a while.

The worst of this bunch would be the RX 580 8Gb you can get them second hand for like $80 these days.

If you are in need of a DVI connection I assume this is for a general purpose desktop?  Personally I would get the GTX 1660 as it's a significantly better all around GPU in my opinion. I don't think the Rx 580/590 are worth buying right now, at least not new.  Granted this is sort of "free" but in either case the 1660 is a better option.

Why not put  more cash and get a 5700 series AMD

Well two reasons

1) 150 to 180 cash vs zero cash.
2). All amd 5700 on Best Buy do not have a dvi connection. So I would need a 10 dollar adapter

Don’t want to spend  160 to 190 more.

Stultorum infinitus est numerus
Between your selections, if you are going to focus on mining and mining only, with 8 GB VRAM and 1545 MHz, XFX's Fatboy seems to be the better choice here. Although AMD cards usually draw in more power, in terms of mining they are better than most NVIDIA cards.

Long story short: If you are mining and you don't care about power (it really uses a lot) go for RX 590, you will be fine with any algorithm that requires high VRAM and overall Clock Speed. If you are mining and do care about the power usage, opt-in for NVIDIA 1660. If you are considering to do both mining and other uses, gaming, rendering etc. (Pretty much anything that requires a GPU other than mining) I would suggest GTX 1660.

Personal opinion without any use case: Go with NVIDIA, while AMD has started making good CPUs I still think that they are still amateurs both on software and hardware side when it comes to GPU.

I have $214.00 in points I need to buy something or lose the points
So I can get the cards below from best buy

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/xfx-amd-radeon-rx-590-fatboy-oc-8gb-gddr5-pci-express-3-0-graphics-card/6315898.p?skuId=6315898 = 219

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/evga-geforce-gtx-1660-xc-black-gaming-6gb-gddr5-pci-express-3-0-graphics-card-with-hdb-fan/6339195.p?skuId=6339195 = 229

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/xfx-amd-radeon-rx-580-gts-xxx-edition-8gb-gddr5-pci-express-3-0-graphics-card/6136515.p?skuId=6136515  = 179

so all  above fall near my point level

the fatboy  would be  5 or 6 bucks

the evga 1660 would be   15 or 16 bucks

the rx 580 would be  free and I would still have some points.

The card must have a dvi connection.
It must be from bestbuy.
It needs to have 6 or more gb.
It needs to be 175 to 250

your votes and opinions please.
