I do wonder what the criteria is for thread deletion, though. Sometimes it seems arbitrary and not based on promoting active discussion. And since (from a user perspective) all traces of a thread is deleted, it's difficult to understand why in virtually all cases. It's difficult to avoid these threads when the criteria is unclear and no apparent rules are being broken.

I'll tell you what I do personally. As a general rule, I avoid megathreads. They’re useless and repetitive, yet for some reason the mods seem to leave them alone. I look for relatively new and on-topic threads with active discussion happening. Yet it seems like these are still threads which are often deleted.

I stopped posting in Bitcoin Discussion entirely some months back because of it, and Press too for the most part. I post pretty seldom and often go back to my last posts to see if anyone responded. So I noticed it simply wasn’t worth responding on those boards anymore, whether or not there was active discussion or newbies looking for answers, etc. Half the time I'd go to check, the threads were gone. To me, the current moderation seems almost worse than the spam because it actively discourages genuine people from posting. It just axes discussions right in the midst and leaves no trace.

The spammers don't miss a beat; they keep posting (particularly in all the megathreads which are seemingly always preserved). But others (like me) just leave and never come back.

Examples? Difficult because I don’t preemptively archive threads I post in...that would be insane. Roll Eyes

I’m just one anecdote; take my words with a grain of salt. I only wandered in here because my posts over the last week (just a handful) were deleted without notice. At this point, I mostly just post Bitcoin speculation and TA—in on-topic threads in Bitcoin Speculation. I really hope the delete-happy moderation from Bitcoin Discussion doesn't happen to Speculation (preserving the garbage megathreads while deleting active discussions).

Whatever criteria is being employed, it’s discouraging. If my TA updates keep getting deleted, I’m probably done with this forum. There would be no point anymore, not worth wasting the energy. It's already devolved so much and most of the old timers have all left anyway. Again, just my anecdotal perspective. Take it FWIW.

* Note: I am talking only about thread deletions. To my knowledge, I've never had a reply deleted by a moderator before.

The moderators are experienced enough to nudge if the reports are correct or not. If it was not correct, every member here would have 100% accuracy in reporting.

Please don't provide any context. How is anybody goimg to be able to help you here without you posting what sort of posts have been removed and from where?

And please don't provide this information even if a moderator is asking you!
This is hilarious, he's ignoring the questions from the person he's asking for attention.

In the modlog I see he has two posts deleted, none are in self-moderated threads.
And this is one of the messages that got deleted:

Not worth a topic in my opinion

Based on the posts iasenko reported and from the ones I can see--which isn't all of them, since I apparently have whatever sections you post in on ignore--you probably got some deleted because they're one-line shitposts.  Don't get upset at the mods, because the problem is on your end.  My guess is that someone probably reported some of your posts as being insubstantial.

When a mod deletes a specific post, you should get a PM with the post quoted.  Did you get one of those?  If not, it may have been a mod deleting a whole thread in which you posted.  If that's the case you won't receive any notification.  In either case, you need to suck it up and move on and stop bitching.  You're not the only one who's had posts deleted.  That's par for the course on bitcointalk.

Are you sure it is the forum moderators, and not the OP in a self-moderrated thread?

Most likely you're right. I can't imagine any admin or mod would delete posts that aren't against the rules.

It's not the op self moderated thread. Its the forum moderator.

Hi.
As the topic suggests, I’m really not happy with how the moderators of the forum or topic function. They delete without looking at the comments. If someone reports the comment, they will delete it. Even if it concerns the users who are not wanting to get scammed by any ico.
...
Do you mean why do the mods delete all the posts when the topic opening post is a spam?  When the mods delete a topic opening post (because it's spammy, scam, etc...), this means all the posts in the topic gets deleted too, automatically.
This is why you should be very cautious where do you post if you mind your post count...
If you post in order to gain activity, you should think twice where you post (and how you post...), in order to keep your post count increasing instead of decreasing....

Some messages are auto deleted by a bot if they contain certain phrases or are deemed to be very offensive.

Short example of some of your last posts.
I normally report such posts as spam, what they actually are.
Looking further down your post history I can see that you are bumping the Easydex Ann thread. Let me know what you think about that?

EasyDex Dev team have made it apparent that they are working on the product and willing to help with any question that anyone new may have. I highly advocate opening an account with them because you have a password protection backup plan!
Truly helpful and have been working hard.

EasyDex is the cryptocurrency exchange platform on Bitshares blockchain that has easy user interface and most importantly password recovery option, it's also decentralized and transactions on this platform are fast

And also a great team.

I just noticed that the Pool us upped it's reward to 1500 starting today...hehe

EasyDex

Yes, the pool rewards keeps, growing..I said it before i'll say it again:
 100,000 PBTOKEN for rewards;
A. 500 tokens per day, distribution ( depending on each contribution )
B. 1000 PBTOKEN per day, (after the first week)<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<C. 2000 PBTOKEN per day, (after 3 weeks) until all tokens distributed.
D. Final day 1000 more PBTOKEN WILL ALSO BE INCLUDED, as a added gesture of appreciation.

As Well, i heard BTC Gate is opening, like any second, AND the PBtoken (Portfolio Builder) will start building...EasyDex is on the move...

Bravo EasyDex

EasyDex is moving towards success

The team spoke with the telegram and mentioned that they are going to start paying out to the token holders well before the end of the campaign instead of after the campaign. That is great news!

We should start once the bitcoin bridge has been added.

That will be awesome.

Modz didn't banned you for spamming they just only deleted the post, you should be thankful for that, some members got permanent banned. They given you a second chance to live.

For sure mods have nothing better to do than read your posts 1 by one and delete them.
Someone is reporting you for spamming messages and mods delete them if they are spam. (or you posting on self moderate threads and OP delete them).

Hi.
As the topic suggests, I’m really not happy with how the moderators of the forum or topic function. They delete without looking at the comments. If someone reports the comment, they will delete it. Even if it concerns the users who are not wanting to get scammed by any ico.

Raising a concern or asking the ico thread a question about them or saying something that concerns me is harmful to the ico groups? And more harmful to the moderators?

Are the moderators wanting the users to get scammed?

Do the moderators even read what is reported or why it was and if it is reasonable to delete the comment?

The admins don’t even reply to the concern raised about the deletion of comments.

It’s up to the people to think if they want scammers posting and reporting if it talks about the ico or what others view about the ico?

Moderators are Admins, look into it.
