It's not a scam.  I played around with it using windows and an android smartphone.  Once you download the app and scan the QR code on the screen, you are directed to a screen that gives you complete instructions on how to proceed.  Ignoring those would end with you losing any coins you transferred.  You need to agree by clicking a box that you have written down your 6 words passphrase but there is a png file on the left side that is barely legible.  I tried to blow it up but it isn't clear enough to help. Here is the original:

Initially I used ie and could not get the download backup link to work but later, I tried using firefox and the download works with firefox (as well as a convenient resize which is legible) but the pertinent information is missing now - guess you only get one shot!

I can access the account with the 12 words even after deleting the app from my phone but in order to spend, I needed the 6 words passphrase.
One thing I noticed was that the transaction fee seems to default to 0.0001 BTC.  With the first account I created, I transferred in the equivalent of 74¢ and back out in two separate transactions; the second transaction amount was lower than the fee Wink  I was able to totally empty the account though which is nice.

It's a pain in the ass having to enter the 6 words for every transaction - I only really had to do it twice but I got a lot of invalid key errors.  Also you have to scan a QR code with your phone for each transaction. The error shows up in a text box on the lower left of the screen and barely lasts long enough to read... and sometimes not quite long enough.

All in all, I'd say it's not a scam but it is certainly not an easy-to-use wallet.  I'm going to look through the Github code and see if I can't determine where the 6 words are used and if it is possibly to recover the private keys with the 12 words based on BiP39.  No promises though!

How much do you have locked up in there?

I guess you got scammed honestly , I googled their website and couldn't find much. I found some results as you can see here https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/introducing-carbon-wallet-1367863785 & here https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/CarbonWallet but they are both old (from 2013) and as you can see on the pictures , they are not the same website (unless they changed it which I doubt since they don't offer the same features)

I could be wrong but I guess someone used "Carbon wallet" as a name to scam people since they had a good history in the past , even If you check here : https://github.com/carbonwallet/carbonwallet.github.io (It's supposed to be open source) you will see that the features of the wallet you mentioned aren't the same as the old one + the one on the Github didn't get updated since long time. I'm still wondering how you got the link to the wallet In the first place too.

Hello bitcoin and program experts.
I have joined Carbon Wallet who claims to be the most-secure with their 2 key sign-in.

Well that is 100% untrue.  a) I have my personal carbon key (please click here and see how quick to get one) carbonwallet.com  it links to your cell phone device as this is ONE way that nobody else has your cell but you to log in (my phone has 12 words Passphrase)
b) However, the 2nd additional way is then asked when you are already LOGGED in to be able to transfer out funds using a 2nd encrypted 6 word passphrase

WELL...they have a "glitch" where I was not given a 6 word Passphrase...and now even stranger, after contacting their support...they say they cannot access the account.

c) Well, if somebody is able to help me...I would gladly agree here (this is a public forum for proof) to send you $200 to your bitcoin wallet.  However, you will have to help me decrypt my 6word Passphrase

I am logged in...again, I have initial access to my account with my phone...I have my 12 word Passphrase... I have my encrypted private key....I have ALL of my info....JUST NOT the 6 word Passphrase to transfer out.

I see this as 1 option.  I am just not computer language literate http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/5324/how-do-i-import-private-keys-from-bitcoin-qt-to-multibit-client/13303#13303

Then I see this as well https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=import%20private%20key%20bitcoin

They make it seem easy...but please do a step by step with me.  I promise to take care of you.

Thanks so very much to this forum -- Jeff
