technology growing every year and so does with internet, running node won't be a problem in the future,i'm sure size won't be a big wall if we're moving to 1Gbps speed like what have been mentioned by google fiber
although you can just buy a monthly windows vps which cost you about $5-$10 and run your bitcoin core there
I agree with you that computers in the future will be faster with bigger desks. so maybe in this time I would run a node if it is affordable Smiley
Of course it is possible to run it on a vps. but is it save to put the wallet on cloud ? I am not sure

It also depends on your connection and the nodes you are connected with, but you should be able to download the entire block chain within 48 hours. Nowadays HDD space is very cheap where you can get yourself some great deals on 2,3,4TB disks. That should be enough for the coming years.

I have a 1 TB HDD so it should allow me to continue for a few years I guess? But the problem is that the bitcoin core slows down the computer- I can only do minimal things with the computer.

I also have a 1TB drive and you are right, it does slow down the computer quite a bit while Core is active in the back ground. But that's mainly due to the HDD being the bottleneck here. I am planning to buy myself a large SSD since the price of these drives gone down significantly. That will definitely help speeding up things.

I do have slow internet speed so I used torrent to download the whole blockchain in a few days before starting the sync for 1-2 weeks' data.

I have been using bitcoin for one year and I have never used bitcoin core wallet.
what prevents me is the huge size of blockchain that will take months before finishing syncing with low and medium speeds and it needs a huge free desk.
I can not imagine how difficult it will be to run a node in the next years.
do you think individuals won't be able to run nodes in the future as it will cost them a lot without any profit from doing so except supporting the network?
