I really feel that I should invest in & buy some ETH, something keeps stopping me from doing so though. I just don't feel it's a long term good investment. I've been wrong on it so far though.
people wouldn't see at the bigger picture as what op done. as long as it has a good market history for long enough and several big project supporting ethereum they would go for ethereum. so far maybe ethereum in a very stable situation. and i do a little bit agree that ethereum should have  correction sooner or later , it's takes too long time since last ethereum skyrocketed. and yet they are on top of their price!

You never know which breath will be your last, but I really want to see ethereum crash hard. Not because I missed the boat, just because I am suspicious of the big money backing behind it, and because it simply is a needed correction. Who doesn't appreciate the forces of nature at play, waves crashing during a storm, or lightning cracking?

I'm guessing a year, 18 months tops should do it.
The legendary member Torque pretty much covered it all, but I must add that the disaster of The DAO is also a big stain in ETH, they forked the network and created two different ethereums, this was very controversial and a decision that many that are against centralized control did not agree, that is why some people prefer ETC over ETH.

To be fair, this can be in the bitcoin speculation section because and (inevitable imo) ethereum price crash will mpst certainly have a big effect on bitcoin price. Who knows though, maybe it will send a crypto with better smart contract support up on its way down instead.

That what's preventing you from buying yourself into Ethereum right now, will eventually make you happy that you didn't do so -- Ethereum is insanely overvalued. Everything around Ethereum and its initial unit distribution through ICO stinks. Sure, if we look back at how people having bought into their ICO back then have been hitting the jackpot this year, it's a great achievement, there is no way to deny that, but at this point it's too late to enter already. No one in his right mind will ever pay nearly $300 for something which has 95 million coins into circulation.

I can't say I don't regret missing the ethereum boat, but I can sign everything you said. Ethereum is for sure backed by corporations, just look at who is signing up for the so called Ethereum Alliance, a bunch of the same old banking-corporation are the ones you'll find there.

Mike Hearn went on R3 to work on Ethereum stuff, JP Morgan is involved in Ethereum (another reason why he hates on Bitcoin), the list goes on... and it is an obvious scam with devs owning most of the supply.

I'm sure this thread will eventually get moved to the alt section, but while it's still here I guess I'll comment.

1. Vitalik Buterin, the creator of Ethereum, has said himself that ETH was never intended to be a cryptocurrency that should hold any value. And he's right.

2. ETH has been essentially 90% pre-mined, with the lion's share going to wealthy investors and Vitalik himself. The remaining market float is miniscule, which is why it has such an overinflated market value.

3. Vitalik believes Ethereum's issuance should have no hard cap.

4. Mining it and sending to exchanges has a negligible effect of downward market pressure. There is no money velocity as no one uses it to buy any goods or services. There is no merchant adoption. Therefore there is no true price discovery mechanism as this has been subverted by the pre-mine sale. It's a true unicorn speculation at best.

5. But the BIGGEST problem that ETH faces, is that it's entire business model is completely flawed and illogical. The notion that people will go through the hassle of purchasing and securing ETH, just to use it to power apps that will have competitors out there that are free. Think of apps like Facebook, Snapchat, etc. but instead of free, you have to first buy and secure ETH to power the app on the ETH network. No one with any sense will do this, because there is no benefit. You can just use a free app that provides the same functionality or service. The ETH supporters keep ignoring this elephant in the room.

6. Currently, using it to buy ICO tokens is like 99.99% of Ethereum's reason to exist. When those go away due to regulation or fall out of popularity/favor, ETH will then have zero reason to exist.

7. The notion of smart contracts is a solution looking for a problem. Even if the problem truly arises some day, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies will adapt that functionality as a 2nd layer solution.

You should move this thread to some altcoin discussion board.I think that the "Speculation"  board is only about bitcoin price speculations.I like the ethreum smart contracts consept and lots of ICOs are based of this consept.
I think that ethereum has lots of potential, despite "the big money backing behind".Anyway, your reason to hate ethereum is not an argument. There are big whales ,who pump every other altcoin and even bitcoin.
Is this a reason to hate them?

It really should be move in the Altcoins Section, well a moderator might move your thread for you or even delete it, but I think OP has a reason on doubting the Ethereum or he doesn't have a knowledge in it, well even if he does, Ethereum has a potential in keeping up with bitcoin maybe he is scare that Ethereum might outrun bitcoin but well who knows.

Can you proves me your accusation about ethereum, or at least give me some thing that related with your opinion regarding the ethereum token  Grin It looks funny for me to see someone was accusing ethereum about get backed by a lot of money. Sometimes a lot of people are hating with ethereum.
