Trolling is an act that is against the rule of the forum.
But I don't have anything against bashing only if it is well calculated and actually correct.
Some users actually like they know it all there by missing possible knowledge that can guide them here in the forum

No God or Kings, only BITCOIN.
Merit is in demand yet it will be limited to users that make this forum great.

A merited post is just a post that is worth reading.

So who should determine if that post is worth reading, the meriter or the general public? Because I can merit a post  which I feel it's worth reading but the forum users might have different opinions and it'll be consider as merit abuse

You will not be tagged as abuser if you are not abusing, don't worry.

If you find a post that you think it's worth reading and you want to merit it, go ahead. Even if it's a one word post, that doesn't matter.
The problem is that we don't have merits to merit all good posts we find, because we are not merit sources Sad

I tried to be one, but my application is still pending

A merited post is just a post that is worth reading.

You would need to have already read a post before determining if it was worth reading or not, it comes down to how helpful the post or reply was to the reader and if the read added any value. This is still the popular opinion of, if it was a quality post or not, and the effort put into it.

Bitcointalker persistently looking for merits, will only find red.

read more than you write
And this is merit worthy. Apart from merits, this little motto have a potential of making few cents around here.
It is like this old proverb "speech is silver, but silence is golden" but for text based forums.
Its funny how there are actually no rules nor recipes for posters to score sMerits. People have random sense of humour and taste, no one can tell what is going to be for somebody's liking. IMO just be a decent guy (may be hard sometimes) and someone will appreciate at some point.

Merits are much less scarce now than it was a year ago. We have much more sources now..

I believe that anyone who reads comments in the threads, google for answers or read some books and/or some news website can easily get merits.
Just take your time read more than you write and you are getting merits.

More often I see this kind of replies when reading other people topic on guide, advice etc and most time those users opposing the advice get stuck on their current level because they refuse to practice the advice given.
Problem is its hard to distinguish good advice from random thoughts of particular user.
Its problem of our times to choose good source of knowledge from many garbage source which is like 1 to 100.
More on this, people often need to learn by mistake, its best learning experience sadly. We would advance as human race much faster if sharing knowledge would be more reliable.

So I just remembered one of the few topics that earned me some merits I made back in September 2018 titled Stop searching for merits and you will received them.- see Smerit as liabilities. I decided to visit that thread then notice someone that was opposing my advice is still a jnr member and active until toady earning just one merit and here was his reply
Thanks for the advice but I will continue to search.  I know there is merit hiding within the depths of this forum. Maybe under Jet Cash's hat? Or perhaps in the Pharmacist's pants?

More often I see this kind of replies when reading other people topic on guide, advice etc and most time those users opposing the advice get stuck on their current level because they refuse to practice the advice given. I just want to share this with the current newbies/jnr members we have now, always learn to take advices you read if they're good ones and mind what you comment it might end you up on someone's ignore list and probably you'll end up missing a chance of getting merited by that user  Don't forget we're all humans and have feelings too.

Trolling, bashing or opposing every post you see doesn't pay it isn't worth it.

I’ll agree with you in the initial days when merits began, and I began to give out merits I made it a point to tell people what they were lacking, many appreciated it, some didn’t like it. I believe this forum has lots of experienced people, and they keep on giving advise from time to time which I believe one should keep an eye on. I don’t believe there’re any merits under Jetcash hat, but you’ll find it under his competition or make a constructive post and he may just reward you one.

This forum is jam packed with good advice, but people join this forum for financial gain and not the advice that are given out for free. I started a few years ago with the same goals, but as I progressed through the ranks, I noticed that the advice is the real reward and the monetary gain is just a added bonus.

We have a bunch of talented and gifted people on this forum with years of Crypto experience and you miss the most valuable experience, if you are just focused on the money.  Wink

Thank you for this valuable advice. I will try following your advice and try giving my best effort. I don't wanna miss the chance.
Don't see merits as a chance or an opportunity, that way you'll put yourself under pressure, just read and educate yourself on cryptocurrency and about the forum,as long as you're willing to develop yourself and increase your repertoire of knowledge through the forum, then merits will only compliment your hard work and determination.
IP's advice would go a long way to help you on this forum,as well as the link to an old thread of his, that thread was somewhat a special and helpful one I must say and should be made available for newbies to read

There is no knowledge that should be considered as a waste and i think the the user was trying to use sarcasm to earn some undue merit but like it show only good trying to constantly improve yourself can set you on higher grounds in the forum

well this " Stop searching for merits and you will received them" is not directly accurate, in fact once you search for merit, you tend to make better quality posts.
the issue however with many users including high rank members, is that they try too hard, they post tons of posts every hour hoping to get merit for one or two of them, the main issue with this approach is that they lose focus and instead of posting 1 good post , they post 10 shitposts instead, and when they don't get merit - their 11th post is "complaining about how the merit system sucks".

I have remembered that I had few arguments with CryptopreneurBrainboss begging about merit post. And Iwas ignored him. And day by day CryptopreneurBrainboss changed his posting quality and he tried his best. Then I removed him from my ignore list I sent few merit to him. Honestly I don't see the person, I see the quality and useful of post.

CryptopreneurBrainboss trying his best to make quality post and he has improved himself. So I believe everyone can change his posting behaviour if he want heartily. So it's true no one need to search for merit, just try to improve your posting quality and concentrate on it. No one is quality poster from beginning even me. Day by day I have learned a lot from forum and trying to help others as well.

So what you are doing for forum this is the main thing. You don't need to search for merit
Merit will search you if you made quality and useful topic.  Always try to help others then obviously some will help you. Best of luck OP, hope you will become Sr. Member soon if you continue your contribution.
