<…> no @DdmrDdmr.
Newbies, even 20 or 1000 fake accounts have not any sMerit so they can't generate anything.
There is not also any other interaction they can do it "giving likes".
I think I’m pretty familiar with the Merit System here for multiple reasons. Read the answer carefully and you’ll see I was explaining to @tspmhack8 why his idea was not feasible.

OT: Thanks for clarification... and sorry for misunderstanding.

tspmhack8, you register on this forum almost month ago, but by looking your post history you did not make almost any effort in making some useful posts, and the result is that you have not received any merit for now. Post in Altcoins boards will not help you to get merits, especially not for applications in bounty campaigns.

You have to completely change the way you approach this forum, and you can start that by lot of reading, understanding of some basic things and then by posting some valuable and quality posts. Nothing comes overnight, so give yourself some time.

<…>Example: You write a valuable article. If 10 people like it, you will get 1 Merit. If 20 people like it, you will get 2 merit ... Then it will encourage writers to post really valuable articles.
What do you think of this idea of mine. Is it useful? And will anyone change that way on this forum
The thing is, there is quite a fair share of wrongdoing here. Your idea, which has been proposed on a similar basis multiple times, has the drawback that it is very easy to rig.

Say I created 20 fake accounts, and liked a post of mine with them all. I would get 2 merits for that. Now imagine everyone doing that. We’d have a ton of farm accounts just giving likes as is there was no tomorrow, rendering the whole point of the merit system pointless, since anyone could basically self-generate merit through Alt accounts.

New accounts tend to think of merit on more social terms, since they tend to not come across it easily. We need to understand that merit has a couple of concurring objectives:
-   Reduce account farming.
-   Reduce spam, by incentivising better content.
-   Adjust the ranking-up system, delimiting the scope and speed with regards to your posting abilities.
Now the system is far for fair, and less widespread than I would personally like, but it’s better than how it used to be before on account of it’s contribution to the above objectives.

Note: When my account was a Newbie, I too vouched for a change to socialize merit awarding, empowering a lateral democratization based on votes (see An idea to democratize merit assignment to all levels (complementary)).

I created a post about the merit system in my blog quite a while ago. You can read it here -

I wrote it some time after I had become a merit source, and I haven't updated it since. Maybe it is time I reviewed it.

It's hard to get Merit from someone. Even my post is valuable. But is it only felt by each person who read that article? Why don't we judge someone's article based on scoring?

Example: You write a valuable article. If 10 people like it, you will get 1 Merit. If 20 people like it, you will get 2 merit ... Then it will encourage writers to post really valuable articles.

Merit System is a unique feature of this forum which let's you to merit a post if you like the quality of the post or think that it is contributing towards the forum the same can be done By clicking on the top right of every post where there is a button : +Merit. The system is so constructed that when you send someone a merit almost 50% of that merit sent becomes sMerit i.e. sendable merit which means that person can now spend the 50% of received merits to merit other posters. Everyone has certain amount sMerits with a new account and you will get more of them when someone merits you. For more in depth knowledge regarding the merit system I recommend you going through these posts made by trusted forum members:

sMerit is a merit that can be provided to anyone else. Suppose you get 2 merit points from someone. Now you can use 1 Merit Point as spendable merit or sMerit out of your 2 Merit. I mean, you can use half of your total Merit as sMerit. Now if you get 1 merit then you will have 0.5 sMerit but it will not be seen. Whenever you get 1 Merit again then 0.5 sMerit + 0.5 sMerit Total 1 sMerit will show up. Giving sMerit will not reduce your merit. Your merit would be as much as it was.

sMerit in other words is Sendable Merit.
For every 2 Merits you receive from other members, you will get 1 sMerit.
sMerits are what you use to merit other people's posts
