Sold all today.  Opened shorts at 645-650.

FYI:

Closed my short position today. Sold big chunk around 750 USD. Average sold price above 720 USD. Calculate profit yourself...

This thread is an example how much people DON'T KNOW.  At the end only money in pocket counts.

Bitcoin is still trading above 650. How much did you lose?
people are losing a lot at the moment if they invested at around 750 dollars per bitcoin

though its a bad idea to sell now because in my opinion bitcoin might come back to previous heights pretty soon

What are your intention with bitcoins. If it is to make money, well buy when low and sell when high. ow seems to be 300 400 maybe in a 2 yr window. High is anything north of 500. I doubt it will ever reach 1000 agai, well at least this decade. I think its market vaule should be around 600.

exactly that! that's why i am glad i secured profits with a good portion of my coins between $730-$760 as that was a fantastic price to sell at. i didn't need to think twice about securing profits at such prices.

Sold my coins today.  Bitcoin is overbought now.
I think that you should never sell all of your coins at once because there is always a chance that the price is going up after you have sold. So you miss out on some money.

Taking profits is ok.
But why posting and telling everybody that you've done so?
To me this seems to be an attempt to influence others to do what he said, he has done.
But do you know if this is true?Maybe he just wants to get cheaper coins for more accumulation?!
Always try to question why and when others here doing or saying something! Wink

Information is money. Use it or ignore it.
You must need some patience in Bitcoin if you want to make profit and that is the most important thing otherwise you are not to be able to make any profit with it and that is bad.
But around this time the best thing that you can do is holding and that is important and sell it maybe next year.

Good timing but ealiar, if you wait for a few weeks so definitely you will get more profit, but that is your bitcoins and you know better for them.
In this forum, most of the members are holding their bitcoins because of halving, because everyone can get good profit from it. so better for us, wait for that moment of the halving.

Sold all today.  Opened shorts at 645-650.
Bitcoin is trading at 670 - 700 at the moment...

It is hard for anyone to call the top exactly - he is only about $20 out. If he made real profit on selling, good on him. Better to be in that position than holding on too long and seeing paper profits evaporate.

I hope you're happy with your worthless fiat.

meanwhile we are getting ready to leave with the rocket, and laugh at all your inflation and the corruption of banks.
But I feel those who are thinking holding till moon they are in dream. They think using their 1 BTC they will buy whole earth. If you want to take more profit hold your bitcoin. Remember 2013 or later and now only bitcoin make fun again. We lost 3 years to bitcoin to reproduce it's faith again.

well, some people seriously believe one bitcoin to become worth like $100,000-$1,000,000 in the far future. and yes, this is a far fetched dream that most likely never becomes reality.

hey im no expert but i consider OP's decision a smart one. a profit is a profit. enjoy it and dont regret if it still goes up later. if the trend still proves strong i would maybe buy some to day trade with from the nice stash you have now. its also a good idea to leave some and not sell all as others have said here. so you dont fully miss out just in case. looking at the charts it looks to me like the momentum is not as strong now. lets not forget that a good part of this upward movement is from hyped up masses who donk know much about crypto. just my 2 satoshis

Worthless? I mean I can pay bills with it that I can't with Bitcoin. Taking profits is not a bad thing I don't know why people think that. Sure it goes higher but a locked dollar is a dollar you didn't have before. The world runs on fiat not btc

A wise man once said; that you don't get rich at work. You get rich by doing your homework.

Well done. A Dump wave is about to happen. You were smart, you got out before the shitstorm begins. Do you all think that pump will last forever? I don't know who or which company is crazy enough to buy btc like that but soo it will be over.

Actually i don't think so... although the past has had a lot of pumps and selloffs, this time i expect the market to go sideways for a long time after the pump, mainly due to the halving.  new supply is cut in half and investors know it will be cut in half again in 4 years.

Nothing wrong with taking the profit. It might even be the smartest as the rise for halving may slow down and then people start panic dumping...good to lock in.

taking the profit what it ever means? the only time i would sell bitcoin, it's only to buy back later, and have even more

there is no "i'm out of this" ever, bitcoin will be the currency of the future, it's already obvious, it's not just a p&d..

I've sold everything yesterday, before the pump. Think in which condition I'm right now  Cry but I'm happy the same, I've made a nice profit Smiley

Real profits are always better than paper profits.

BTC has gone up too fast. Ask yourself, would you be buying right now? If the answer is no, then other people are thinking this too, and without buyers, it will come back down again.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/this-week-i-bought-300-btc-700-before-1000-total-786277
This week I bought >300 BTC (+700 before > 1000 total)

If he sold then he has no profit.  His average is well over 600,  he was crying all way down and tried to lower his average price,  perhaps he bought into ath first.
He is lying.

He said he was buying at 400, but he could have bought at 200 for a year afterwards. Now he says he's selling at 600, but he could probably sell at 1200+ for years afterwards. It's testing 700 now, and he shorted at 600.

If he does not tell lies now or earlier then he is shorting more then 1000BTC now

He had to move first 1000BTC to an exchange...

The topic opener claims he sold all coins, it means (checking his post history) he sold at least 1000 BTC yesterday and now shorting ...

Are you all retard who comment this topic and does not see that the topic opener is a liar or what?

If you had 1000 BTC would you sell all ? ( and go shorting)

from one side, you did good thing by selling bitcoins at 650$ each, as you probably bought it for less than that, so you got good profit, so it is good that you din't want to risk more to get more

but from other side, i am sure that price will rise to more than 650$, price at this moment is 700$ for example and it won't stop here so you could get even more profit if you would sell later

In my opinion, no bitcoin is not overbought and I doubt it can ever be overbought because there are always sellers like you who are willing to cash out at a certain price in time.

Hey, people have bills to pay and not everyone takes btc for payment. Some people are forced to sell but not him, he sold because he's silly.

Indeed. I almost sold $100 worth today because I was short on pocket cash. Luckily I ran into someone who owed me a few hundred so I didn't need to.

If you absolutely are forced to sell coins, now's as good a time as any in the last couple of years, I suppose.

Sold all his altcoins to buy Bitcoins XD

Just a tip-never sell all the bitcoins! If you sell say90% at a price you like, chances are still good the coin'll increase enough after that that last 10% you didn't sell comes to be worth equal or greater amounts in Fiat after next rise then profits from that 90% from previous rise.

It's great that you secured your profits but it's never a good idea to sell all your coins at once. If the price goes up much higher from the price today, then you miss out on extra profits. If I was you I would sell a maximum of 25% instead of everything. But it doesn't matter anymore since you have no coins left anymore.

It still seems a bit early to sell, but every trader need to stick to a proper plan and strategy. Seeing this current little correction it seems profitable, but you will struggle in next days to get more bitcoins at a good price.

Sold my coins today.  Bitcoin is overbought now.

I've sold everything yesterday, before the pump. Think in which condition I'm right now  Cry but I'm happy the same, I've made a nice profit Smiley

Anyway, it's a good choice the yours, right now is difficult to predict what will happen at the bitcoin price.
With Bitcoin and things similar it's best to not completely exit your position, I like to hold a small percentage in case it keeps rising. It's worked out for me.

It depends from the percentage. If on 10 BTC, you'll mantain only 1 BTC or 0.5 BTC, you'll not have many difference in terms of earning, unless BTC will arrive to 100000$  Wink

Enjoy your profit. Too many people only keep their profits on paper. I dunno whether it's overbought or long term massively underbought. I guess we'll find out soon enough. Alot of weird stuff could happen in the next few weeks. It's not a standard market right now.
Same, I don't know how you can determine if any cryptocurrency is overbought.   Honestly that's one of those stupid fucking buzzwords that finance and business journalists use to sound impressive.   But I understand the sentiment.   Rising too high, too fast isn't good.  It is cool to be a part of this.

Nothing wrong with taking the profit. It might even be the smartest as the rise for halving may slow down and then people start panic dumping...good to lock in.

Going all in or selling everything is such a foolish move.
You are more likely here to get some attention because you are a silly retarded nerd with a depressing life.
Leave and die please.

I think it would have been much better if you have only sold half of your holding. However you seem happy with whatever you get in profit at current level.

Its overbought? If it was overbought then we would have a lot higfher price than we do now. Congrats on selling when u feel the time is right. Id personally rather hold and see what happens, Still a while away from the halving yet.
