Yeah, he admitted it already on the other post he made.

Case closed!

Yep but I still find it's unfortunate that op does not take the time to respond to people who speak in the thread he created. He throws his info and disappears ... bof .... (he connected yesterday without posting messages)

pity

Too bad for him but I guess it's just depressing that he figured out that he got scammed by those scam forks and it's not the fault of the ledger company that he thought of it as the main source of the fault.

When you generated your private key did you save it on your PC, printed it out , sent it by mail, made photo of it by mobile, scanned it  etc. Are you the only person who was controlling the private key, did your store it safely?
You can back read or read the posts above yours.

I'm been following this thread but it looks like its not a problem of Ledger Nano S but the OP has been scammed:
Yeah, he admitted it already on the other post he made.

Case closed!

OP hasn't lost his ETH from his 'ledger' wallet by doing nothing. But he was a victim of the fork scam of ETCV.

Be careful exporting your private keys to an unknown source or much better don't ever export it to any website. It's your private key and you don't expose it anywhere on internet.

If you didn't leak your private key out, it should be there because it is basically impossible to brute force out of the key
Or, did your Ledger pass key got leaked?

Leaked i mean it is written there when it comes with it?
If not mistaken there's such case where the Nano ledger is actually accessed before sold to customer hmm

this is strange why is that? I think Ledger is very safe because it requires your finger for each transaction confirmation, if you send it, you know

Ledger Nano S is safe for everyone if you have best practices when using a hardware wallet, Please check this post from ledger reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet/comments/aes8dg/i_lost_my_eth_automatically_from_my_ledger_nano_s/edsaic7, OP follow the youtube instruction to claim the "ETH hard fork", then he lost all the ETH because it's OP their own mistake, sorry to hear that and don't make the mistake again in the future.

Exact same thread title on bitcointalk and reddit..... Plus op posted a comment on other thread (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.49171080) saying he lost eth because of this 'stupid hardfork'

Yes, we don't need to find out what happen anymore, OP already said that join the stupid hardfork and lost his ETH, hardware wallet is one of the best ways to store our crypto assets without worry security issue, just don't be greedy and everything will be alright.

There's no way of disappearing your coins unless you have shared your private keys with someone else or somehow your private key has been compromised. By the way, have you tried to claim any of the current forks? That may also be a reason.

as far as I know, this hardware wallet is very safe in protecting our assets that are affected by it. there might be an error that you made so that something like this happened.

Hi guys,

Today I lost my ETH automatically from my ledger nano s I didn't give my private keys to anyone and my hardware was also kept secure in safe place so as my recovery sheet. I contacted ledger support and didn't get any response yet, but it is weird to see all ETH gone from it. Below is the transaction details. I think I am not going to get it back but just wondering is there any hope?  Sad Cry

I really hope that you could recover that missing Ethereum, that would have been so hard for you to lose that much. But I guess it would serve a lesson to anyone to take good care of their funds.

Are you really sure that you didnt type in your seed phrase on any site? Eg. to claim aidrop coins/forked coins or something like that? The only other possibility would be that someone got exactly the same seed as you did when he or she initialized his/her Ledger Nano S, but that is VERY unlikely ...

It is impossible to find a private key, it is either phishing or you have lit a private key somewhere, but it is very strange that a year later the purse began to take Ethereum.

Is it impossible if Ledger Nano S could get hacked since its stored on the hardware, or you just attackin' the team of Ledger if there's a vulnerability of the system.

I have never come across such scenario. I think your wallet has been hacked. Please recall if you filled in any Google form requesting to private key, or clicked a link asking you for signatures and the likes. It's rare to see a case like this, intact it's almost impossible. Sorry about your loss anyway, I don't think there is any way to recover it. Move on already OK.

I feel sorry for you. You may be glad that there were only $3k, not 33k. Different situations are possible: mb one of your close people find out your password and stole ETH. This is another confirmation that there're no 100% safe ways of storage of your money!

Yea, it is strange, maybe your recovery seed was compromised (i.e. make a photo) and someone just recover your account on another Ledger device?
Interesting, what support will answer.
This is really the only intelligible explanation for what happened, most likely someone of your friends stole the SEED phrase from you, and made a transfer from another device.

It seems to me that most of these attacks are not focused on the system itself but on people, that is, owners of cryptocurrency. Therefore, I now still need to properly defend against such attacks. Although in most cases you can simply do nothing.

I am sure there is no problem with Ledger Nano S. This is most likely a scam where someone has got hold of your key. I hope you get your coins back, but I don't think it's likely. It's a reminder that we all need to be super-vigilant.

Are you going to participate in fake forks from ETN and ETCV, which will occur in the near future? If it's true, then that's why you lost your ETH, see this thread Warning: Crypto Scammers are Taking Advantage of Ethereum Hard Fork Concerns
Is that true thay you participated in claiming fork coins? Is that possible that they can steal Ethers from Hardware wallet? Maybe thanks to contract or?

If you did not expose your private key on any scam site technically it's impossible to lose your Eth as the hacker needs to approve physically from the Ledger's button the transaction.

Just try to remember where you could have exposed your seed and don't this ever again.

Is ledger nano a hardware wallet? If so, I guess it is not really secured even though you have the private keys, the manufacturer might include some hardware that can track your transactions and steal some of your cryptos.

What kind of question is this? Do your research our ledger nano before saying its not secure. The OP is lost and don't know what happen and didn't even say that Nano has flaws in its security.

To the OP, there's has been a lot of post, Maybe you need to reach to them and post on the appropriate board so that you can have a idea as to what happened to your ETH. Nano S has been in this business for quite some time now and I'm sure that they won't simply ignore this kind of issues.

I'm sorry for your lost and then no hope to get back your amount and it looks like all of your balance has already stored to the scammer's wallet. Never try to use ledger wallet because it's crap wallet and never believe any other person that suggest you to use it. Sell it and buy trezor wallet. it puts a lot of security layer to your amount and that will be more secure. A bunch of people have complained about how shitty ledger wallet is. I use trezor from 2016 and i never get any problem with it.

You or someone made transaction from your wallet so nothing to be blamed about the wallet here, either you lost your private key or it taken from you without your knowledge.Do you remember that you bought it from the official site only? there were lot of clone sites also doing the same thing with setup wallets to steal others money.

Wow that is pretty messed up those things are supposed to be totally secure. I only heard about people buying ones that had already been set up and losing out that way but as your re-initialised it as well that should have been covered. Hope you get some satisfactory support from them.
That's the first thought that came to my mind but it came from him that he's the one to unbox the device.

If something happened and its a fault from the ledger, they will take full responsibility on it. I forgot to mention that maybe you'll get a quicker attention if you'll post this on https://www.reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet/

It's weird, Nano S is one of the best if not the best hardware wallet out there. I think you need to rethink the steps you have taken, perhaps you were online or something that might have leaked your Private Key somewhere.

Maybe its better if you could post your issues in this thread: Development & Technical Discussion > Alternative clients.

I'm sure someone more technical can give you an answer.

Are you really sure that you never did something wrong such as entering your private keys to a form just to claim an airdrop or free token?

I checked my wallet that's stored on my nano ledger s and it's still there. It's impossible that someone will transfer your funds without knowing the private key. Did you just bought a second hand ledger nano s and its private keys were already generated? didn't you reset it?

I bought it from official website directly from factory. I initialized it before setting it up.  Cry
Okay so there's no problem with the generation of private keys since you are the one who initiated it.

Do you remember other activities that you did that required you to write private key while filling up a form or same?
