This might be a stupid question, but is there any BTC in the wallet? You didn't mention this, and if the answer is no then you can simply rename wallet.dat to something else and core will create a new wallet without a password.
He is right, if there is no BTC in it it might not be worth recovering it
and depending on how complex your password was it might not even be worth trying to guess it. If you can sorta remember parts of it then yes try the brute forcing tools, but if it was a long random selection of characters then i am sorry my friend but them btc are gone.
