I like this one a lot.  Simple but bold.

First I thought this flag is too political, but then again most people don't know what it means.  Then I thought it is fitting gold and black.  Bitcoin is stateless after all, and used for trade and exchange.  I do like it.  If you wanted to be super subtle you could take the BTC off and just change the yellow to the yellow color that is often used with bitcoin, it's an almost orange.  Here is the color

Now that's a good one, but I was thinking it works better if the bitcoin is somewhat centred

kinda like that? Very rough and not proportioned right I think, but it could be done better by someone good at that sort of thing I think...

The white is for neutrality. Fists are for freedom. Bitcoin is for....Bitcoin. Orb is for internet and world.
I am really interested in this, Arsen. I'll make whatever adjustments you want me to make.

I realized that bitcoin is one of the only currencies without a flag so I decided to upload this design at:

http://bitflag.org/

Let me know if people prefer the red one ... Smiley

First of all, a flag as people understood it in the past and still understand it today is a graphical representation of historical and moral values shared by a group of people, be it a nation, an organization or a church. They're usually linked to a specific territory. A flag has to be accepted by some form of (a centralized) government or at least a majority (or be forced upon a group of people, as it happened countless times in history). New flags, like the flag of EU, are more of an advertisement really. Since BitCoin is an ex-territorial, decentralized form of money minted (mined) by individuals, no symbol will become a flag unless it is accepted by miners and users, hence the BTC symbol - there are two: the Dollar-like B and the #B. Even though the Dollar-B is being used more frequently, there is still no agreement in the community on the currency symbol.
I personally like the #B symbol better, because it emphasizes the mathematical foundation on which the BTC is based and doesn't send out a "something like Dollar" or an "anti-Dollar" message, but rather a "completely now quality" statement.
Lets look at the symbolism for a second. There was and is no need to die for BTC, no bloody red then. No need to declare a war against anyone (the enemies will defeat themselves :-) ), no need for black. No connotations with nature - no green. The commonly used colors we've got left are: blue, white and yellow. Blue stands for freedom, reason, prosperity. White stands for innocence and purity, transparency. Yellow represents wealth and justice.

My proposals are square, because I find it more "perfect" than a rectangle (even in golden proportions) and it can be used both ways, that is as a conventional flag-on-the-rod and as "old combat style" flag. I used mainly blue and white, because I find BitCoin has more to do with mind and intellect than any other currency. Yellow and gold are used as the advertisements and "good luck charms" really. The circle and a disk, through their resemblence of the sun (gold) is instantly associated with money, but also symbolizes the rotation of BTC (and is a wink to central banking). They're all very simple. A flag has to be easily memorializeable and recognizable from afar. The middle one (white disk on blue background) is my personal favorite.

I like this one too.  I think gold is my favorite color for the flag so far.

I still like the transparent flag idea.  I don't think I've seen that before. A gold B on a mesh/transparent background would look awesome, I'm not sure how well it would hold up outside.

Very nice so far!
I'd replace this Bitcoin coin with the simple Bitcoin sign (as on the orange flag sample) or the simple gold coin and use a different font for the bottom text.

Could you tell us what the demonstration is protesting or supporting?

There seems to be unanimous support for the latin phrase "Vis in Numeris" (trust in numbers) which has at least two excellent allusions (1) strong mathematics and (2) people power. If it carries the same message, perhaps you could translate that into Russian:

Дoвepиe нoмepa
B i t c o i n

I like the trust in numbers idea.

Main things are implementing the block chain somehow and an unusual shape (not necessarily the one I made)

Also, I think bitcoin needs an animal mascot. Something found worldwide like a rat.

I like all of these ideas. Although I don't know if rat is a good choice.  We should resurrect Clippy lol

i'm bored so i figured I'd try my hand at a flag.... the text at the bottom can be changed to whatever if you choose this one Smiley

While this looks cool, I think its really important for a flag to be easy to produce.  Thats why all of the world flags use only a few solid colors and generally simple shapes with straight lines.

Ahh, I thought about that when i was almost done making it. I might simplify the project to take all that into acount. I guess it might work as a nice banner/background for someone Cheesy

I am sure, that European Union stars are inapropriate in this flag.
Just imagine that each star in the circle is replaced with these images:

And you will feel what i do feel about this image

Transparent flag. Everyone can see that Bitcoin is not associated with a certain party (color) Smiley

It's easy to print a flag on transparent surface (no harder than on fibber surface).

What about the printed image?

The color choice is very important because it's directly connected to people's perception.

While yellow on red is very "revolutionary", russia would just see it as a variant communist flag

Yellow on blue is very "european union", so still not promoting independence

Anything on green is too relaxed

Anything on black is violent

Damn, Russia is complicated :/

In any case, when you agree on a color combination, then you can start adding details Smiley
It needs to stand for complete freedom. Wish some colors could describe that.

Русский: Флаг Российской СФСР, 1937-1954 гг.

It is very interesting idea about merging I and O into "Ф" symbol,
but i think that from practical point of view it will be more useful just to write "bitcoin.org"

edit: Just FYI, in Russia, Communism isn't that controversial (or, more precisely, it's controversial but you won't shock anyone with a hammer and sickle)... the Communist Party gets a significant portion of the vote regularly.

I only mean for the shock value. I think the "B" could nicely replace the circular Pepsi logo, the Hammer and Sickle, the Swastika, sign of the beast, the flag of India, Japan, Greenland, North and South Korea, the Rotary Club, the dead faces on the US dollar, the rabbit in the moon, the guiding stars and halos over christ in a manger, AT&T, the EU stars, Master-Card, LG, Nasa, GE, sideways to replace the McDonald's arches, the ankh, yin-yang, notes on music sheets, ...

I would prefer something less politically based.

I also thought about using 3D Globe ( https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitcoin-nodes-on-3d-globe-9344 ) as surface,

but decided, that it will be difficult to materialize (as your commented).

What exact message would you ideally like to convey through the flag?

1. The fiat money should be replaced with bitcoin to protect peoples of the world from seigniorage
2. might be some additional things related to GPL, to the right to access to the internet

Right now I think about big yellow "B" sign over red surface (red color, lot of blood is specific of the country)

While this would look cool as a banner on a website or on a poster, I don't see anyone being able to easily make it into a fabric flag. Overlapping stripes and colors and gradients are pretty much impossible.

I feel like a red flag with a yellow B is too similar to the Russian/soviet-era flags.  I guess that isn't a bad thing, but I would prefer something less politically based.  Considering this is for Russia, I guess it would work though.

About the form of the flag, there are two variants:
- conventional flag-on-the-rod

- old combat style:

I like the last one (because i think it is easier to use)
