I See people with different tags and badges and all that, I just wanted to know what they did to earn all that....no ulterior motives whatsoever.
You don't have to explain. It's all good. All those legendaries and heroes were the same as you when they started (including me). They have gone under the same roller, and it's their time to return it back.

You already had a good start. Hope I will see you to be in conversations regularly. Share and care, you will see yourself someday with all these people who are now making fun of you.

Please, you guys should be nice to beginners and at least help them find their feet....most of you were really harsh and that's not nice at all. In all, I appreciate you all.

Hey now, I resemble that remark.  I was a bit harsh, please don't take it personally.  If we can't be harsh to newbies on the internet, then half the fun of social media just evaporates.

Now for the real advice;  Don't pay any attention to your rank, it'll come naturally if you participate in the forum and don't think of it as a cash cow.  Read a lot, respond respectfully, ask questions, don't be a douchebag, and you'll grow with the community.

In that case, just read the "sticky" topics in Meta.

That's easy to forget when most Newbies post nothing worth reading.

Seriously though, don't worry too much about badges and rank. If you post even half decent posts, you'll do just fine.

Close this topic if, as you write, you were satisfied with the answers.
Do not be surprised by the answers of those who have already got blisters on their eyes, seeing similar questions from people like you newbies.
The main thing is to ask yourself, why am I here? If you came to learn bitcoin, you will meet very good-natured people, if you need a rating first, then get used to swallowing such jokes.

I am very grateful to all your replies so far.

I guess some Lengendaries here misunderstood my question, I only asked this question because I was totally confused and bit lost. I See people with different tags and badges and all that, I just wanted to know what they did to earn all that....no ulterior motives whatsoever.

Thanks to those that referred me to beginners forum and help, I have spent quite enough time there now learning a lot.

You forgot to mention the Collectibles board, where buying a round piece of metal adds greatly to your reputation. Even better if you use certain users as escrow, you'll get double the feedback for just for one deal! Then sell it again, and score even more positive feedback.

I do declare Mr. V. if I didn't know better I'd say you're doing some cheeky rib poking.

Oh, claiming to be Satoshi also works. I tend to remember accounts that have claimed to be Satoshi, there's actually a fair number. I also recommend picking a fight with theymos.

He didn't say he wanted a good reputation, just a reputation.

Angry Guys please give me tips, things I should do to increase my ratings on this platform?

The community would be a better place if we took the time to understand questions before responding to them, rather than attempting to enter the OP's mind. The little princess wants to raise her rating, but we didn't bother to ask what ratings she wants? Bad ratings or good ratings, it's easier to get a good rating than it is to get a bad one. Some may disagree, but the truth is that having a good rating merely requires you to follow the rules, however getting a bad ranting requires you to break the rules and trick the system, which takes a lot of effort and intelligence. OP, whatever you want, you have to work for it.

Is this what you actually want? Being at the top comes with a lot of responsibility.

Don't listen to those haters, you're on the right track, with one of your first four posts being in Reputation. To develop a reputation within your first dozen posts, you need to post specifically in Meta and Reputation, preferably calling out established members of the forum on their perceived misdeeds. Then people will remember you, at least for a while, and voila, reputation achieved.

Or you know, contribute something useful and original to the community with persistence and you will rank up like everybody else.

So anyway, I applied as a merit source :)
things I should do to increase my ratings on this platform?
This is a forum and the trust system is mainly for the marketplace purpose of buying/selling. Beyond that the trust system has been used to mark users who have tried to cheat the system for their own gains. The flag system is used to mark possible/known scammers.

But you are new user to this forum, I find it funny that you found this section of the forum so quickly. When I was a newbie, I did not get time to check so many sections because the threads in Bitcoin Discussion were already full of new replies everyday. Roll Eyes

So you dont need to ponder over your trust rating. If you are going to set up a marketplace thread here, then this becomes an important part, because buyers or sellers will want to know prior feedback on your account.

As long as you dont try to cheat anyone on this forum of money or use more than one account to enroll into a campaign, you should be fine.

Goodnight, o_e_l_e_o 🌹
I wanted to reply based on the content of your post OP, but on a second taught I decided to share something with you.

Now listen:
If you want to build reputation, go back to your neighbourhood, go to workplace, go to your worship place, go to the real world and build your reputation. And that is where reputation matters and count.
Trust me, you can be a Saint in the real life, but just one accusation from an established member will ruin the reputation you are building in the forum.

Incase you still want to build your reputation;
1. You must spend a very long time here and remain consistent.
2. Don't involve in any scam project(s)
3. If you do business here, stick to the terms of business.
Finally, I insist that you don't build reputation here, your reputation in real life follows you to here, but only Time will tell.

I missed the sarcasm in your post on the first read, nutildah.  Hence I looked at OP's other posts and found them, read them, and judged them.  I'd say he's trying to increase his post count right now, because if you look at this post, you'll see that it's like he just picked a random thread in Bitcoin Discussion with a question title--and it was a question that didn't even apply to him:

Information is really key and having the right set of friends around you who can bring some valuable information your way.

Well, I won't say I totally missed bitcoin; I will say why I didn't catch it early is because of lack of information and not having the right set of friends around me.
Now forgive me for being rude (or don't; I don't care), but that post is complete crap.  It's generic in its content; short; uninteresting; and might as well be posted in any of the dozens of threads on the first couple of pages of Bitcoin Discussion, since what he wrote doesn't fit with the topic of the thread.

OP's not going to establish a reputation, I'm afraid.  At least not by being a positive contributor if he sticks around and keeps making posts like the one above.  Ironically enough, he probably would create more of a name for himself if he did what you suggested, nutildah.  Being loud and causing drama is a great way to become known (but it's also a great way to get negged, ignored, and/or shunned altogether).

participation in discussions in mega spam threads does not act exactly like a model for gaining a reputation here.
I guess, it is enough just to be active here and will build its reputation. depending on his manners, that will be his rating as in any other place.

Leave now.  You're only going to make your reputation worse if you think just showing up and making three shit-posts is enough to "increase ratings."

If you contribute, you are already building your reputation. For example, you post good. Another example, you are managing campaigns and getting successful, this will increase your reputation. Another example is if you are a scam and spam buster, you fetch out plagiarists, your reputation will increase. The second and the third examples will increase your reputation.

That's a good one but when newbies manage campaigns on the forum and build reputation then most of them are going scam as user "SmallRabbit" did it takes a lot for a newbie account user to put their reputation first instead of 10-15k USD.

The user SmallRabbit chose 15k USD and left this space or maybe they are still here but it proves the point that whoever chases reputation here without stating their cause for it then it's a danger sign.

The fact that you even just asked about how you can increase your ratings is more than enough reason for me not to trust you. It means you have something you are planning to do once you get high ratings. Probably scam people in the future.

Someone who's genuine would never care about how quickly they should gain trust in a community. It just  builds up naturally.

So the tip is, DO NOT CONCENTRATE TO BUILD REPUTATION SOO QUICKLY.
That would be the main point I'd make if I were to give OP a single suggestion--establishing yourself on this forum takes time and catching the attention of other members.

I've established a reputation here, for better or worse, and that's something I wasn't expecting or planning for when I registered on bitcointalk 6+ years ago.  I've no idea what that reputation is exactly, but my username is at least recognized if you go by what bpip has to say.  But becoming recognized takes time, a lot of it.  And gaining a positive reputation and not just recognition takes a lot of effort in addition to that time, whether it's from scam-busting, being honest and doing a lot of deals (like TECSHARE), getting on DT, or whatever else.

So it's basically time and enough posting; those are the minimum requirements, OP.  And by time, I mean it may take a year or more for people to know who you are and what you're like.  You've got to be patient, and I'm not even sure why a newcomer would even be asking a question like this.  It seems odd for a person joining a group to say "Hey guys, how do I establish a reputation here?".  I'd be very interested to know what your plans are as far as this forum goes.

Most interesting thing is that you made your post on a section which itself called "Reputation". I don't know but you may have little knowledge about this board and obviously forum rules too. This section name is "Reputation" but if you are thinking that its the place where you will get reputation or rank then you are wrong. After seeing your post it seems to me that you haven't spent enough time for reading forum rules, necessary topics and guidelines. so I can say that you missed the best part and still don't know how this forum really works.

I don't wanna give any extra suggestion to you. Just manage time to read more and more topics from differents section and know first as a newbie where you should spend your time. I can refer Beginners & Help section for you which is full with all necessary and informative posts. Hopefully you will get the answer by your own.

Looking for a good reputation from the outset isn't really exactly the right way to go, and there are no 'tips' per se as regards that; you just have to be yourself and do what you're expected to do on the forum which is to: discuss about Bitcoin and other things, not to spam or scam and to contribute generally to the forum. Thus if along that line you start rendering one service or the other on the forum, getting deals completed smoothly and without any hassle, and generally contributing in such a way that other users think you to be trustworthy, then they will rate you positively. But if you make it look like reputation is basically what you want to get first, then it begins to look sketchy cause there have been users who built reputation early on in their forum days only to scam people (mostly lenders) and made away with their money.

I am a little bit curious why suddenly you want to build your reputation. You have joined the forum on August 22 this year and you just made 4 posts today. Can I ask why do you think you need to build a reputation and increase your rating? And I am wondering what kind of rating you are talking about? For your information no rating system is here, the current system is feedback. This feedback you have to get from the DT  members to make it visible by default. Does it necessary to get ratings or feedback to stay here? The sound is not good to me.

Feedbacks really depend on how you are contributing to the forum,  but it does not mean you will get ratings or feedback for your contribution. If someone from DT members thinks your contribution is good for the forum they might leave feedback. Just a friendly suggestion, I have learned from the past if you want to build your reputation so quickly then most likely it will turn negative. So it is better to just contribute to the forum and do not concentrate to build your reputation so quickly.

So the tip is, DO NOT CONCENTRATE TO BUILD REPUTATION SOO QUICKLY.

Want top-notch marketing for your project, Hire me
1) The first tip, you need to know how the forum work (understand the rules and regulations with the dos and donts).
2) Join the discussion you know you can make a good contribution and don't force yourself on a thread you can't fit in.
3) Don't copy paste some content online and if you're going to do that always provide the source link.
4) Make good contribution in the sub thread focus by merit source.
