Search some phrases in your emails such as ''mine'', ''bitcoin'' etc, might help narrow the search.

That year the cloud mining hype was the most famous so I guess you did.
Cloud mining is a scam so even if you make some profits it will be taken from the people who defrauded you.
You can search for names of cloud mining sites and you may remember one of them.

Was that BTC mining or some other mining?

This also pop on my mind, maybe OP misunderstood Bitcoin mining before, because as I remember, there are lot scam way back before that talking about Bitcoin mining, such as "cloud mining" which you will just deposit your Bitcoin and wait for it, no hardware bought and installed.

For OP, you should be more clear and specific, did you tried to use some hardware before to mine Bitcoin? Do you remember setting up your own Bitcoin wallet before?

Bitcoin to the moon!
Was that BTC mining or some other mining? I recall a mining simulator that went by the name "dogeminer" and it was a huge thing back in the day. Those weren't actually real coins though, just some internet points, hence the name "simulator" Smiley

That's the only thing that I can think of in realms of "recreational mining" and was around in 2017.

By 2017 PC mining was obsolete and there was really no way to casually mine.  You needed expensive  dedicated equipment like the Ant Miner to even register on a mining pool.  You may have been mining something, like Ether or Monero, but not Bitcoin.

I think I did some recreational mining during the BTC hype of 2017. I didn't do it for long and I doubt its worth anything, but I figure I should try to recover it. Does anybody know where I could start looking? What popular mining software was being used around 2017?
