How it works

Select the currency
For example, if you would like to exchange Bitcoin to Ethereum, type in the amount of BTC you would like to exchange in the “You send” section and choose “BTC” from the drop-down menu. Then choose “ETH” from the drop-down menu in the “You Get” section and the service will automatically calculate the amount of Ethereum you’ll get. If everything is OK, click on the “Exchange” button.

Enter your wallet address
Type in your Ether wallet address in the "Your ETH Address (destination address)" box. Click "Next". If you don’t have an Ethereum address, you can go to the "Don’t have a wallet yet?" section and create a wallet with one of our partner services.

Confirm
Check all the information carefully and click "Confirm".

Deposit
ChangeNOW will generate a Bitcoin deposit address for you. Send your BTC to that address.
Receive your coins

@OP also to avoid things like this happening since you are a newbie and the crypto industry is a whole new world for guys like you, I think for you not to get lost next time you must read some guides which you can find in the exchange itself on how buying ERC-20 tokens from them. Reading their guide it will clearly show you that you need to have a Ethereum address and not a Bitcoin address as your destination for your purchased cryptocurrency, I think what you did is you just copy and pasted your Electrum address as your receiving address without you knowing first the difference between a Bitcoin wallet address and a Ethereum wallet address.

Thank you, everyone. I figured it out using the link stompix kindly sent eventually. Now I see my USDT in my Omniwallet.

You got me worried a bit with this, I assume you're talking about the link I posted in how or three messages above, right?
Not somebody contacted you via PM or anything else as it wasn't me!!!

I know you guys get irritated by newbies' dumb questions but thanks for all the help and support.

In my opinion, people that get irritated by questions should not enter topics with questions  Grin
Anyhow, glad that you solved it, 0.24 BTC is not something to lose every day.

Please be a bit lenient on me as I am a newbie.

You mentioned:
"So what you need to do is export the private key of the address to which the funds have been sent from electrum and import it into a wallet that is compatible with Omni, either Omniwallet or Coinomi."

On Electrum, I see the only option for Private Keys is to export them to a file. I have downloaded Coinomni wallet and followed your link on how to import an individual private key but I see no way in Electrum to identify or export the private key of a single transaction.

How do I locate the private key of the address to which the funds have been sent from Electrum (because the private keys don't seem to be linked to the address from which I received the UDST) and the only option in Electrum seems to be to export all the private keys to a csv or json file which Coinomni does not accept?

Please be kind enough to guide me in detail as I am a complete newbie.

Please somebody help me!

People have already told you what to do.
They have sent you via the Omni chain, on top of BTC, those USDT are yours but your wallet is not designed to support them so it can't read the balance.
So what you need to do is export the private key of the address to which the funds have been sent from electrum and import it into a wallet that is compatible with Omni, either Omniwallet or Coinomi.

https://github.com/OmniLayer/omniwallet/wiki/Importing-a-Private-Key-into-Omniwallet.org

I apologize I am a newbie. Are you saying my USDT amount is in my Electrum wallet but can't show it?
How do I make it show it and transfer the USDT to a USDT wallet?

Again, Electrum will never be able to show you the USDT.
You need to follow the steps everybody keeps mentioning, import your private keys from Electrum to another wallet that supports Omni.

If Electrum does not support USDT then how could they have sent the confirmed USDT to that address and where did my USDT go?

Electrum is a wallet, it manages your addresses and nothing more, it doesn't any approve or reject transactions it's not like a bank account telling the operator that the IBAN is wrong.
You can send to that address you mentioned USDT or BCH, the transfer will still be valid as you've provided a valid address, ChangeNOW had no way of knowing what wallet you use.

You need to be careful while sending cryptocurrencies, there are many cases that funds are lost and not reversed because of sending to a wrong address. If supposing you send the tether to bitcoin custodial exchange address, you will lost all, while the exchange will be the one to take the tether.

The transaction is confirmed to the Electrum Receive address but I have not received my USDT
That is why noncustodial wallets are the best because you have full control over it because you have the private key. If the transaction has been confirmed, that means if you import the private key or seed phrase of the electrum wallet to a wallet that will support tether successfully, you will see your tether.

After Bitcoin was created, many other coins emerged that use the same address format. Your Electrum can create a compatible address, but can't show it when your USDT arrives.
As said above: get a wallet that supports USDT.

I used Electrum's Receive address and ChangeNOW sent to that address. If Electrum does not support USDT then how could they have sent the confirmed USDT to that address and where did my USDT go? The transaction is confirmed to the Electrum Receive address but I have not received my USDT. If Electrum does not support USDT then how did the transaction happen and where is my USDT? I just lost 0.24 BTC and received nothing. ChangeNOW says we sent the USDT to the address, contact ELectrum support. Please somebody help me!

Do you use Electrum to receive USDT too?? Can you clarify your statement because electrum don't have USDT wallet address. Where do you get your wallet address? Can you indicate here the USDT wallet address that you use?
What he meant is that he sent bitcoin from electrum wallet to an exchange (ChangeNOW), after he exchanged the bitcoin to tether, he sent the tether to electrum wallet back.

Electrum wallet supports only bitcoin it does not support tether but your tether is not lost. The first thing you will need to tell us is the tether address, if it is similar to bitcoin address, then get a wallet that support tether omini layer, Coinomi is close source wallet but it will be the best for this purpose. Just download Coinomi, import the private key of the bitcoin address you use to receive the tether, once imported, you will be able to see your tether balance which you can also be able to send.

EDIT:

As per some reddit discussion, Get your private key of the wallet holding the USDT then import on the Omni wallet. This is the first to see this kind of issue tho. Goodluck

I sent 0.24 BTC from my Electrum wallet to ChangeNOW to exchange them for USDT Tether. The transaction is complete and the amount is sent to my Electrum Receive address but I have received no USDT Tether in my Electrum wallet.
ChangeNOW says we sent you USDT Tether, contact Electrum support.
