Okay I see where I screwed up. The quote that was posted in one of the top threads: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/faq-everything-you-need-to-know-about-forum-activity-account-ranks-and-merit-2766177 was edited so it didn't say they had to be other peoples posts. The theymos original post, however, does say that it needs to be someone else's post. So that was where I screwed up.

Most of OP's posts seem to be him conducting business here.  I'm not fully confident that he's got the right intent to be a merit source, i.e., I wouldn't trust that he wouldn't use sMerits as incentives, gifts, payments, and the like.  That's not an accusation that I'm sure he would do those things, but since he left an extremely important piece of the merit source application out (examples of posts he would or has merited), I'm left scratching my head on this one.

He's not highly-trusted or highly-merited and isn't a high-ranked member of the forum, and those are things that would probably work against him in Theymos's eyes.  And OP, Theymos just added 36 more merit sources in September and nobody's sure if he's even looking at new applications.  It might be a while before he makes the decision to add more.

In the meantime, OP, go back and fill out the #2 part of what suchmoon quoted.  It doesn't matter what posts you've made that you think are good; it matters that your judgement is sound enough such that you'll give out merits to posts that deserve it, and that's why Theymos wants that list of posts in the application.

Here are the requirements for a merit source application:

If you want to be a merit source:

 1. Be a somewhat established member.
 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.
 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.

You seem to lacking #2.

Thanks for correcting me, I did not follow the directions. Whoops.

This is not the right method of application, for now you just seem to be demanding to be a merit source
You'll have to follow the due process,as @suchmoon has listed them out for you,and only then could you even be put under consideration
3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.
Pay close attention to the word "maybe",which means even fulfilling the requirements and applying the right way doesn't automatically mean you'll get it, and I doubt you will,i do not think theymos is looking to add sources just yet

I would agree that I didnt follow the directions well, but I don't mean to be "demanding". I realize it is an application that can be denied. But yeah I guess I wont be.

Not only do I have a lot of time on the forum, but I make quality posts/threads and have been a very helpful member to anyone who contacts me. I also have 0 negative trust and like 400 reports or something, so I am an upstanding Bitcointalk Citizen.

Here is a list of some helpful threads I have made:

Do you actually understand Ethereum?
Understanding how to properly evaluate coins/tokens
YouTuber's using marketing schemes toward bitcoin
Why you shouldn't be shorting
Understanding a Financial Market
Let's Create NEW ICO standards! | Ultimate thread

Then I made a ton of helpful videos for beginners on this thread:
Crypto Currency Youtubers

I have a lot of thoughtful posts as well when I comment.
