@jacobmayes94, i think you are right.

Bitcointalk is addictive, especially due to the fact that bitcoin is a new emerging virtual currency.
Everyone want's to be ready, and upto-date to what is happening within the niche.

In term's of selling service or product which are not related to bitcoin it does not convert well (as mentioned by one senior member earlier; "..that this forum is dying slowly..." a majority of similar forum are death already) this is what happen, when people comes to a forum and cannot account the benefit of belonging to such community.

I know lot of company who came purposely on this forum to advertise product's/services which they think it might be useful to this community today, i guess they might have forgetted about their loggin credential's

I made a similar decision months back, reduce my loggin time, somedays i hardly loggin except to check my pm.
I invested more time on ebay which has been rewarding except for a recent issue which has to do with exceeding the annual sale limit.

Beside this, everything on ebay,my effort and time input has been rewarding.

This is an indication that this is till a lot of work to be done to keep this virtual currency alive!

Thanks

I admitted this to my partner, but reading forums has become somewhat of an addiction.

If you spend a lot of time here.

Which sections of the forum are the best to visit on a regular basis?

 Smiley

Also sorry to hear you're addicted & hope you get better soon.

Are you gay? Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Isn't my licking of a boob proof enough that I am straight?   Tongue

No, I meant the OP.

Well, his name is Jacob and he mentions his boyfriend....

And you are right - not that there is anything wrong with that!

Does pleasuring a man with a sock foot once mean you are gay ?
hmmm these are the questions !

I know that was off-topic but the Seinfeld reference earlier got me goin'

177 days ?
Ok he's leading us to Rehab not me LOL  Cheesy
Or maybe even The Gamow  Shocked

"You gotta teach me Mr Spoernik" ?
I love all the variations on my name i have gotten here over the years hahhaha
And all topics are about me here.. i know because a guy said this was "Spoetalk.org" yesterday.
So i will rant on Wink
I keep looking around on the web to see a sighting of a white + red object and find literally no others.
I repeat i think it was anything but an alien spaceship but ya never know.
Prob some type of human activity / craft of some kind.. or maybe what i was hoping was some cool celestial type thing.

"must admit though this place is slowly dying"

I have to agree a bit on that.. over time most older guys have wandered off.
I see new accounts 90% of the time talking.. usually a few weeks old etc.

And you can tell i have been doing it wrong.
My time logged in is greater than some peoples but they have a far higher activity number.
I stick to 1 or 2 sections.
In other words i am not diverse in where i post / visit or.. gaming the forum ranking system.
There was a formula posted here i seen years ago on how to pad your stats.. but i can't be bothered with that crap.

Summary:
The FREEDOM is what is addicting here.
To be able to make a digital currency or speak freely (more so than most places online)
Is what has got me here all the time.

When i started heavily on the web back around 2000 (on a daily basis)
it was common to be able to swear etc.. anywhere.
NOW ?
Excessive moderation etc.
I have had people flip out because they think i have a tone now these days on other forums.
The internet / WEW has morphed into a giant snow flake pussy whipped PC / SJW little bitch fest of crying Troll.
A new generation that never got hit by the parents for being dumb has taken over.

Bitcointalk = Freedom (abused or not)
A last bastion of free speech and open communication etc.
A fucking strong hold where the last of us are hanging on to what we have left off the web !

These days i get a message from my ISP saying hey we got a piracy alert..
They say you need to scan your PC for malware searching for Torrent clients etc.
Oh yeah ? I put it there dumb fuck ROFL

Whether it's Bitcoin or Bitorrent or saying "you posted fucking garbage".. it's about freedom !

I admitted this to my partner, but reading forums has become somewhat of an addiction. To the point where i get agitated if i cant check it... It has distracted me from college work and my other hobbies. This is not to say I am quitting, but to evaluate your own hobby and how much time you put in.

I am lucky and use due diligence not to become addicted into things such as gambling, drinking or anything else (i do not drink whatsoever even), we have a family history of gambling, and avoiding this I have done well and actually can gamble for fun responsibly now and then, even after a big win on roulette from £10, i never rebet it, nor did i rebet a £100 loss a year ago as i treat what i put in there as fun... But addiction to online forums partially fuelled by the cold temperatures outside partially due to the need for instant gratification (works on the dopamine system).

For me, my addiction is 'information' specifically, new information on whatever subject i like.

I hold BTC and LTC, but i feel that I spend way too much time on bitcointalk. I am going to reduce my logins to 1 or 2 a day just to check PMs and update people on any services I am offering, etc etc and using the time to improve my business services and other hobbies as i do offer Bitcoin services and have clients. I am quite spiritual and this is why i think I have realized it became an addiction, as i spent less time meditating and doing spiritual work than I did on the forum, and its also affected my college work, luckily we are nowhere near deadlines.

This is not me leaving or any attention seeking of any kind, just that I have acknowledged the forum has become an addiction as acknowledging an addiction is the best step to overcoming it. My boyfriend who is pagan like me is supportive and I am glad about that, it has somewhat made me quite withdrawn over the winter, but onwards and upwards as they say.

If any of you think you spend too much time, then this may be a wake up call to you too to see if you can improve your situation somewhat. I will still run competitions and work on my Bitcoin services, but will spend less time on actual forums. There is more to life than Bitcoin, and the cyber world!

Love and light to you all!
