There would be lots of people here willing to pay up to chat - so many that the chat would be flooded (although it wouldn't necessarily be abuse, people are just chatting normally but the amount of people chatting would be enormous).
Also, I'm sure many companies would see it as a "pay to spam your message and website to other people and possibly get some clicks before you're banned!" thing.
One more side note, there would have to be a lot more moderators for the chat as well.
Having an IRC channel would solve all of these problems.

The chatbox is stupid, the games are stupid. There's already too many IRC channels you can use for chatting about Bitcoin and they're way better than some chatbox that would sit pointlessly somewhere on my screen, collecting spam from random users.

No it would be prone to abuse and with the amount of users there would need to be various subsections and constant moderation even with Activity limits it still would be a challenge to regulate it unless directly linked to forum accounts which would require more coding.

That seems like a fun way to use forum money, having people create community games that get people interested in Bitcoin is not a complete waste of resources and a means of education and entertainment, it would even be a fun addition to the Bounty system besides forum bugs and the forum could create its own little section for that fairly cheaply so maybe that is not a complete waste of resources if it becomes to much of a burden it could be offsite on its own server but with the budget the forum has it's not something that is unfeasible.

I just came to this thread and Im interested in the chatbox although its optional since Im fine without it. You know some of the locals forum here has a large chatbox but all in all they maintained it in a good condition. I forgot the name of that forum since my last visit there was several years ago.
Heres some of their chatbox guidelines;
1) There is a minimum rank or post count to be able to post in the cb to avoid troll post. The required ranks are pretty high to achieve by trollers so the cb is clean from spam. In this btctalk forum, one should be Sr. Member rank.
) (It will be a dead cb lol)
2) Posting refs link is not allowed as it will lead to automatic deletion and will be mute for ; first offense ; 1 day; then so on.
3) You cant flood the box because of interval.
4) About the discussion if it will missed, thats why we have a PM option.
5) Chatlogs up to 50 post.

The main problem I see with a chat is that it would require additional moderation or face the above problems. Maybe this can be solved by adding a already existing and well moderated IRC channel to the board. If such a channel exists, its been a while since I used IRC.
Honestly in my opinion , a chat box system for this forum might harm more than benefit it even though is a nice suggestion but just not suitable for this forum ....

1) Many users will just use it to spam their link which it could be a virus/malware or anything that could harm the security of your PC
2) With the amount of members online, it would be very hard to track were you left in case you had to go away in the middle of conversation with someone
3) I think it could cause the forum to load slower
4) Many will fall easier for a scam this way in case someone spams a possible scam link which many will try to see for themselves that what the guys posted

Chatbox will always be abused, no matter what. I personally detest them especially for a huge forum like this because you would never be able to have a normal conversation because of the sheer amount of users there would be online.
For the games, there are plenty of different websites you can use instead of increasing server load.

I just cam across on this "New Forum Sofware" Section that i heard before and wanted to suggest few things:
-A Chat Box in Forum (where newbies and community can get live help or just chat abt anything related bitcoin)
-A Simple Games Section to entertain users. No heavy Games just simple and entertaining.
I know my suggestions will not be implemented but this is what i have as ideas for this New Forum Software to be very Unique.
