ETH is related for me it's pretty obvious that some whales have been involved in the BTC crash. They just profited from the bitfinex incident to use this sell off traction while pumping ETH. This makes BTC holders to psychologically see ETH as a place to be while BTC corrects. Dont fall for it.

ETH is sort of a speculation coin and it value increase and decreased mostly by speculation. If you are a serious looking for a long term investment, Go for bitcon and do not panic for little dumps of bitcoins on the way.

So BTC swinging 20% a day makes it more of a safe-haven coin?

Eth has been pumped back with real reason that whitehack attack to drain remaining eth from DAO and softfork wining on miners vote. This become enough for traders to trust eth again so how they could leave the oppurtunity to double their moeny, so shorted btc and bought back eth and another reason could be panic sell after australian bitcoin action of $19 million got finished.

Eth may test 20$ again when btc will return way up to 800$ again after few little pumps and dumps. Holding both eth and bitcoin tightly could be good chooice for future.

What if it's a double bluff?

If you are here for the long term it's worth risking buying at whatever price (500, 600 or 700) it doesn't matter. In the long term you will end up with more money than you would by trying to profit from shorting BTC against USD or against other altcoins.

Hodlers will win over the long run.

HOWEVER there are those that will dominate via shaking out and buying up.. those people are not good people.

ETH gets hacked and DAO drained.  ETH price rises today, BTC drops $100.

You're not even making an attempt to hide the painted market anymore... If you wanna shake coins out of these hands you're going to have to do better than that.
